Water-loving families visiting the Windy City no longer have to wait around for summer to splash around. Illinois has a number of action-packed indoor waterparks to get you drenched no matter if there’s wind, rain or snow! Whether you’re looking for thrilling water slides and wave pools or the tranquility of a lazy river or family splash pad, you won’t want to pass up the best indoor waterparks in Illinois.
I don’t know about you, but when I think of Illinois the first thing I think about is the “windy city” of Chicago. The last thing I think about? Splashing around at the pool or beach in my swimsuit! However, it was much to my surprise to find that Illinois is packed with super fun indoor waterparks that make wind, rain and snow a non-issue.
From relaxing lazy rivers and kiddie playgrounds to hair-raising body slides and tube slides, there are a number of indoor waterparks and aquatic centers where the entire family can get drenched no matter what the season.
So if you find yourself vacationing in or near Chicago with the family and wanting to take a dip, you’ll want to take a trip to one of these eight best indoor waterparks in Illinois:

As a single mom, one of my favorite features is the family changing room. Although my son is now old enough to go into a changing room by himself, I’ll never forget how embarrassed he would feel when he had to join me in the ladies room to change out of his wet swim gear. The family changing room takes that pressure away for families of young children visiting with only one parent.

- Plenty of shallow play areas for younger children
- Swim lessons available at the park for non-swimmers
- Offers an on-site nursery
