Want to make the most of your time at Walt Disney World? You can count on the My Disney Experience mobile app to help maximize family fun at Walt Disney World. Think of the handy app as a shortcut to plan your vacation, explore the resort, book FastPass+ and much more. My Disney Experience app is available for iPhone, iPad and smartphones for Android. Here are 4 tips for using the My Disney Experience app.
Remember when you could just pack, load the kids in the car, or board a plane to Orlando, and arrive at Walt Disney World with no plans but to simply enjoy the rides and experiences, grabbing fast passes or standing in not-near-as-long-lines along the way? Those days are long gone, but with the My Disney Experience app, your Disney vacation can be more streamlined with fewer wait times.
The app does require a lot of pre-planning before your vacation begins (and some strategic planning when at the parks). With these 4 tips for using the My Disney Experience App, your Disney vacation will even be more magical.
4 Tips for Saving Time and Money with the My Disney Experience App
1. Get organized before your vacation.
Make reservations and save time in Walt Disney World with the My Disney Experience app. The app is easy to navigate and you should start planning your Disney World activities from home. First, sign up for a My Disney Experience account, and then download the app.
Book your hotel, buy park tickets and check park hours. Manage your vacation under “my plans” where you can choose FastPass+ experiences, reserve dining and link your hotel reservation.
TravelingMom Tip: When staying on-property at Disney resort, be sure to order in advance your customized Disney’s MagicBands.
2. Use My Disney Experience Shortcuts to Pre-Plan Your Family Vacation
Walt Disney World is a huge resort with many parks, hotels, restaurants and shops. To avoid wasting time in long lines, it’s essential to have a plan in place. The mobile app opens right to the park maps so you can find attractions, restaurants, restrooms and more.
While at the parks, the app’s dashboard also lists wait times, entertainment, events, tours, guest relations, photo pass, hotels, recreation, shops, and spas. The “spotlight” section highlights new park experiences and entertainment.
3. Navigate Disney World Parks with Your Phone
You know that feeling when you enter a theme park and your family can’t agree on what to see first? No longer are paper FastPasses given at Walt Disney World. And no more rushing to an attraction to find a two-hour long wait on your kid’s must-experience rides. Through the My Disney Experience app, pre-schedule your ride times via Disney’s FastPasses. (Not sure how to schedule? Here is TravelingMom’s Ultimate Guide to FastPass+ at Walt Disney World.
Then, once you’ve arrived at the park, check the app for wait times for attractions, shows, and character greetings. That should help decide what to see and do first (in addition to taking advantage to your already pre-scheduled FastPasses).
The app also eliminates the need for paper maps. They usually get wrinkled or lost anyway. The My Disney Experience app’s interactive, GPS-enabled map makes it easy to get around. The app even provides step-by-step directions so you don’t get lost looking for a restaurant or attraction.
For example, the Rainforest Cafe is easy to miss when you enter the Animal Kingdom. It’s to your immediate left, but unless you’re looking for the restaurant, you’ll probably walk right by it. Retracing steps in Disney World is not only exhausting but a waste of time.
3. Discover Special Events & Festivals with the Disney App
There’s always something new happening in Disney World. Keep track and save time in Disney World with the My Disney Experience app.
For example, Epcot’s annual International Flower & Garden Festival attracts thousands of visitors. The app lists the hours and the festival’s special activities just for kids.
4. Professional Photos on the My Disney Experience App
You know those photos taken on some attractions by the Walt Disney World photographers? View the photos and purchase from your phone. In fact, you can even buy the photos once you return from your vacation.
This was one of the last features I discovered. After my trip to Disney World, I realized photos taken on the Frozen and Test Track attractions were on my phone and available to buy. You can even purchase the Disney Memory Maker package.
TravelingMom Tip: Add Disney Memory Package via your My Disney Experience App BEFORE you arrive and save money.
