I was about to start planning a romantic getaway in Philadelphia for my husband and me. I knew I wanted to see all of the cool historic sites and old buildings so I started searching for a hotel in the Historic District. While doing this task (which I love!) I came across tons of reviews, mostly positive about Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District Hotel. I immediately knew this would be the right one for us.

My husband and I were going on a romantic getaway to Philadelphia. The only things I knew for sure about it were:

TMOM disclosure graphic1. I wanted to stay in the Historic District or Old City in Philly
2. We had to be within walking distance to everything we were going to do or visit. And I meant everything, Including the bus station, as we were arriving by bus from New York to Philadelphia

Those two parameters helped me narrow down the options I had in terms of hotels, restaurants and attractions.

The first step for me is always finding the hotel based on location. In this case I picked Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District.

Why Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District Hotel was the Top Choice

There are a lot of hotels to choose from in this part of the city, do picking one hotel wasn’t easy. Here are the reasons that made me decide to stay at the Wyndham:

1. Newness – Before this I had never stayed at a Wyndham hotel. But I saw tons of reviews where it ranked really high making it very appealing.

2. Location – The hotel is located around the corner from most of the cool, touristy and historical places such as Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, etc… Penn’s Landing (the waterfront of Philadelphia with lots of shops and cafes) is only a couple of blocks away

South Street is about 10 blocks away and turned out to be one of the most beautiful walks we’ve taken. There were so many historic buildings along the way.

3. Affordability – The prices are right on for a high end hotel.

4. Amenities – One thing my husband and I enjoy doing is visiting the gyms at different hotels. Theirs was open 24 hours and usually empty.

Pool – If you have read my posts for a while you know that I am not a big fan of pools unless they are for my boys to use. But this one is on the 8th floor, with great views. I had to take advantage of that.

5. Comfortability – We got the Deluxe King room. It overlooks the historic district.

6. Room service – I’m sure that pretty much every hotel has this now but it is always fun to have.

  • The Old City Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
  • In 2003, it was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.
