There is so much to do there, you will be glad that you are your own boss. Take a ride, indulge in food and drinks from around the world, or expand your horizons at many interesting exhibits. This visit is all about you and the park. Play like a child because no one you know is watching!
Travel Solo to Disney World – 11 Best Activities While in Epcot
My recent solo travel to Disney World made me realize the importance of spending time on my own. Initially, a friend was supposed to join me, but her busy schedule prevented her from taking a trip.
The prospect of traveling solo did not spoil my mood. I did it many times before and I knew that, at Disney, I would find plenty of activities to enjoy. Being solo gave me a freedom of doing what I want to do without taking under consideration needs of others.
As a frequent traveler, I concentrated my interest on the World Showcase at Epcot, which gave me a glimpse of countries I never visited before and refreshed my memories from locations I was familiar with. I also explored other areas of the park and eventually came up with eleven top activities that I enjoyed the most.
1. Travel Solo to Disney World – Eating and Drinking Around the World at Epcot
In my international travels, I pay a close attention to countries’ original cuisine and drinks. While visiting Epcot, I had an opportunity to taste foods from eleven countries that are represented there: Mexico, Norway, China , Germany, Italy, France, Morocco, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, and United States.
Dining at Epcot, just like everywhere else at Walt Disney World, is expensive but you get what you pay for – top class quality food and drinks authentic to each of the countries. The variety is overwhelming!
All restaurants are not only true to the country they represent, but the staff are native speakers as well. You can truly get a feeling of visiting a foreign country.
Epcot is so popular, it is often almost impossible to get a table without reservation. As a single visitor, you will have the best chance of finding a table on a walk-in basis. Read more about Dining reservation at Disney World.
2. Discover World Architecture
Of course, visiting Epcot World Showcase cannot be compared to actually visiting countries represented there, but it gives you a feel how these countries look like. What you will see there is a miniature version of famous landmarks and authentic architecture built with a close attention to details.
Each country delivers its own charm and feels very real. This is intensified by traditional music played through loud speakers. Walking around and taking in beautiful surroundings is a great activity for a solo visitor.
3. Shop Around the World at Epcot
Solo travel to Disney World cannot be complete without shopping. It is one of the activities that I prefer to do on my own while on vacation or at home. I do not like to be rushed or to wait for anyone. Moving at my own pace and taking break whenever I feel like make shopping much more enjoyable.
Disney World is definitely not the least expensive place to shop for foreign goods but again at Epcot you will find only top quality gifts from all eleven countries.
To make yourself feel better while spending at Epcot, think that it is still less expensive that actually visiting these destinations. If you are looking for authentic items from an international scene, you will be blown away by what is available at the park.
4. Enjoy Epcot’s Street Performances During Your Solo Travel to Disney
Each of eleven countries at Epcot brings its own music performances and shows. You will certainly stumble upon a few without even checking the schedule. If you like to dance, join the others who do not shy away from dancing in the street. Dancing alongside strangers is a perfect activity for solo traveler.
5. Spent Time People Watching
True Disney lovers are very easy to spot at Epcot. They go above and beyond to dress up for their visit. Just sitting on the bench and watching people is a relaxing way to enjoy the park.
Walt Disney World is one of the top travel destinations in the world. You will find many visitors there from another countries. You will see and hear different nationalities and different languages. See if you can spot who is from another country.
6. Do Not Miss The International Flower & Garden Festival
I strongly recommend to visit Walt Disney World during spring. It is still not too hot, and the annual International Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot is taking place. There are flowers everywhere. My favorite are flower sculptures displayed around the park.
7. Be a Kid Again; Take a Ride!
One of the best things about your solo travel to Walt Disney? You do not need to worry that your companion would question your activity choices. Go for it! Take every ride which appeals to you, even it is a kiddie ride. Pass the lines by using the entry for single riders!
8. Refresh Your Knowledge of American History at the American Adventure Pavilion
When I travel solo to Disney World, I have more time for adult activities. So sitting in the American Adventure Pavilion isn’t taking away anyone else’s ride time! Make sure to watch the film and listen to the music reflecting on America’s past in 30-minute show at the American Adventure Pavilion.
9. Explore Living with the Land
The main attraction of Living with the Land section of the park is a relaxing boat ride that explores agricultural advances in the rain forest, Africa and beyond. This experience is intensified by sound and lighting effects, in addition to heat, wind and mist, to simulate real conditions.
The boats float through a small theater that illustrates the relationship between humans and the environment, and the ways that we have been modifying the land to better serve our purposes.
10. Visit Seabase
At SeaBase, you will experience one of the largest man-made oceans in the world, home to over 4,000 sea creatures representing over 60 species. On the second floor a window-lined observation deck allows you to surround yourself with marine life.
11. Close the Night with Illuminations – a Spectacular Firework Show
This sound and light show tells the history of our planet using pyrotechnics, water elements, projections, lighting and more. It can be viewed from anywhere around the World Showcase Lagoon, but securing a great viewing spot can be difficult.
One of the advantages of travel solo to Disney World is that as a single, you can arrive just before show. Most likely you would be able to find a great seat to enjoy the spectacular.
