Walt Disney World Resort dropped somewhat of a bombshell in an announcement this week. Select Disney Springs Hotels will receive certain on property perks. Read on as Candid TravelingMom explains why this is a big thing and offers 3 new reasons to stay at Disney Springs hotels.
If you’ve tried to book a Disney World onsite resort room lately, you’ve probably noticed a bit of a problem.
There’s not a lot of availability.
Refurbishments happen! But that takes rooms out of inventory. This is good news (yay, new rooms!) and bad news (boo- NO rooms!) for travelers heading to Disney World in 2018.
To help with inventory issues, Disney World announced that select off-site properties will now partake in some of the benefits previously held for on-site guests (and sadly, no, Disney’s Magical Express use was not included in the expansion.)
Here are the details you need for your next stay at Disney Springs Hotels.
3 New Reasons to Stay At Disney Springs Hotels
- B Resort & Spa
- Best Western Lake Buena Vista
- DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Holiday Inn Orlando
- Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
You’ll find these resorts in the Disney Springs area.
About 3,700 rooms will be effectively added to Disney inventory with this change, which should help ease some of the availability concerns.
1. Extra Magic Hours When You Stay At Disney Springs Hotels
Now included with these resorts: Extra Magic Hours.
From Disney’s press release:
Beginning Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018, Guests at any of these Official WALT DISNEY WORLD hotels, with a valid theme park ticket, can take advantage of Extra Magic Hours benefit as each day, one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks opens early or extends later for Guests to enjoy select attractions.
This gives guests with valid theme park admission an extra hour to enjoy select parks during their stay.
Trust me: you can accomplish a lot of Disney in that hour! Don’t waste it by sleeping in.
Check out this post about Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney World.
2. FastPass+ When You Stay At Disney Springs Hotels
One of the biggest negatives to staying off-site is the inability to book your FastPass+ at the earliest possible moment.
This is a negative no more!
These resorts are now included in the 60-day window for FastPass+ selections.
3. Affordability Options When You Stay At Disney Springs Hotels
Anyone looking for a Disney vacation will agree to one big point: it’s not cheap, yo!
With the Disney Springs Hotels receiving additional perks, this opens up another level of affordability to the Walt Disney World goer.
So this might not be “new,” but it still adds benefit to your stay at Disney Springs Hotels.
Rooms tend to be a little less expensive when you move outside the so-called Disney bubble. That’s something we can all get behind when it comes to saving a bit of vacation money. Hey- that’s more churros and Dole Whips!
