On June 11 only, you can fish for free. Usually you have to buy a license, but on this Saturday, which is the start of bass season, anyone can fish. There is a fishing festival in Grand Isle, with fishing instruction for kids and a trout pond where kids can try their new skills.

Free Museum

If fishing is not your thing, visit the Vermont History Museum in Montpelier on June 11.  Highlights include a full-size wigwam, a railroad station with a working telegraph and a WWII living room. The museum admission fee is usually $7 for adults and $5 for ages 6-17; families pay $20.
