When you think of romance, Moscow probably isn’t the first place to come to mind. However, in Russian tradition, newly married couples must kiss on a bridge on their wedding day. So in Moscow, you will find the “Bridge of Kisses.” However, simply kissing on the bridge proved not enough, so the lovers must also bring a lock, engraved or painted with their initials, and attach it to one of the many metal trees lining the bridge, and then throw the key into the canal. This mandatory ceremony on a couple’s wedding day symbolizes fidelity, security, and everlasting love. That sure proves more meaningful than a box of chocolates. Happy Valentine’s Day!
