Even as TSA eases up the show-our-stuff rules to board a plane, figuring out how to travel with less bulk is desirable. That’s why I wanted to analyze three-inch square flat packets with wipes for my liquids and gels needs.
La Fresh is the product I chose, with packages color-coded for the purpose of each.
Less Bulk in a Carryon
I used the oil-free makeup remover wipes from La Fresh on three separate airline trips. The package with eight wipes has a delicate lavender scent but I didn’t find that in the ingredients.
Chemical-sounding substances are listed in the ingredients but so is aloe leaf, flower and fruit extracts. My complexion stayed the same, so I trust the ingredients were gentle.
I never left a mascara smudge on my pillowcase. No traces of makeup after one wiping.
Easy Antiperspirant Wipes Work
Big bonus in the dark purple packet: antiperspirant wipes for women. There’s a man’s version too in green, the shade seen in camouflage.
The product worked fine when I put my armpits to the test on some hot hikes in steep and beautiful western Nebraska. My gels and liquids in hard-sided bottles do the job too but this soft packet, 3 by 5 inches and oh-so-flat, took up no space at all.
Fit essentials in your pocket
Insect repellent and antibacterial wipes in singles fit in the pocket of my vest—always my preference to travel satchel free.
Perhaps reviewing carefully and honestly requires thorough research, so pardon this discussion of delicate issues: hygiene wipes for men and women are gender labeled and color-coded. Guess which is pink and which is lime green.
Directions how to use are identical but the reason why differs. “Stay on the top of your game” is part of the guy version while the girl’s says “pH balanced wipes stealthfully eliminate the bad while maintaining the good.”
Ingredients are mostly the same, including fragrance, in hygiene wipes, but the pink packets list a few more chemicals.
All the packets with multiples are sealed tight to retain the moisture. They have an easy opening flap to remove just one. It resealed satisfactorily on each of my trips. Nothing dried out.
Extra benefit of cleansing with a product that doesn’t require running water: shared bathrooms when renting beach houses or mountain cabins. No need to wait your turn or inconvenience someone else as you hog the sink.
Shoeshine Options Too
I tried two other La Fresh single packet items. One shoeshine wipe removed all the grime from my husband’s size 10, quadruple E black loafers, but didn’t give him the even sheen of a wax.
I believe I could clean up knee-high leather boots after a long day in a city with snow residue or sooty streets.
For the first time ever, my fingerprints all over the smart phone and tablet screens disappeared with the little La Fresh lens and screen wipe.
Curious observation: the liquid content in the shoeshine is much wetter than the screen wipe, reflecting the different task.
Nail Polish Chips a Travel Worry?
I never intend to put a bottle of nail polish remover in a suitcase but chips and cuticles matter. The single pad in a cherry red packet solves that dilemma.
I did not research La Fresh’s Divas and Studs finger mitts for pets but do know such packets are available, with ears and teeth the emphasis.
You can buy a lot of little packets, but if you are as pleased as I was, I recommend ordering packets of eight for $2.49. Then return to the website to look at bigger quantities.
