A trip to Turks and Caicos doesn’t require flash cards for multiplication or extra construction paper, but I threw them into my suitcase anyway, because I wanted to be part of Pack for a Purpose. That program is part of The Sandals Foundation, a group created to support those in need.

Whether it’s collecting and distributing school supplies from guests at its resorts or hosting free dental clinics, children throughout the Caribbean benefit from this group.
The Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International, supports education for those in need through its Adopted Schools Program.
Children from 26 schools benefit from the collection of school supplies.  The schools are located in Jamaica, Antigua, Saint Lucia, The Bahamas and The Turks & Caicos Islands.
The Foundation has several similar community programs, meant to deal with complex issues such as violence, poverty, disaffected youth and lack of health care access.
The Foundation partners up with local leaders and neighbors to create programs with lasting impact, to change lives forever.  Heidi Clarke is the Director of Programs for the Sandals Foundation.  She explains in this video why it’s so critical, and you will hear from some of the students.

It’s easy to be part of, especially if you’ll be visiting a Beaches or Sandals Property.
When I made plans to go visit their beautiful lands, I wanted to be sure to leave them better than when I arrived, even if it’s just through extra flash cards and construction paper.
