For those of us who can’t afford the ticket, time off from school or work to trek to Russia for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, the Road to Sochi tour is the next best thing. The Olympians are on the road greeting their fans and showing off their sport, from freestyle skiing to ParaOlympics sports.
The women’s hockey team could easily be a Cover Girl team and the hunky ParaOlympians could have been the GQ team. At the “100 Days to Sochi” event in New York City, Olympians were available to teach their sport to fans.
John Ratzenberger said curling was not so hard (I later found out he was working with half the Olympian weight!). Fans could line up to try out a mini luge and there was swag and food samples and virtual ski activities.
This event made me a fan. I am not a winter/cold weather person and Russia Is not on my travel list for the near future but boy do I wish I could be there in Feb to cheer on Team USA at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Check the Road to Sochi schedule here. Take your kids. My teen daughter loved it.
