Even the best-laid travel plans can come apart at Mother Nature’s whim. That beach vacation? Blown away by an offshore hurricane. The family reunion? Postponed when half the family is fogged in at the airport. And the ski resort? Slopes closed, due to unusually high temperatures. Some things we can’t plan. But we can be prepared to handle the unexpected weather problems – and that’s what we’re talking about at our next #TMOM Twitter party.

When we make travel plans, we try to get input from everyone who will be traveling with us. But we can’t count on the response from that most fickle of all relatives, Mother Nature.

I’ll never forget the time we planned a mini family reunion in Orlando. My brother drove his kids across the state from Navarre, while my brood took a road trip to Jersey. We rented a big house together and planned each day around a particular theme park. But then Monday arrived with a wicked Florida downpour, raining all over our “Magic Kingdom” day.

Have you seen your best laid travel plans washed away by a storm in the middle of the traditional dry season? Have you packed your skis and sleds, only to find that there was no snow on the mountains? How many hours have you sat in an airport, watching your vacation tick by as your plane is grounded because of weather conditions?

Well, we can’t control the weather, but we can control how we react to it – and that’s what we’re talking about at the next TMOM Twitter Party. Join in the conversation Monday, August 3, when we share our own weather-related stories, and strategize on how to make the most of our vacations, despite Mother Nature’s whims. (For example – we donned our ponchos and headed to the Magic Kingdom, despite the on-and-off downpours. The park was so empty, our family was invited by cast members to stay on each attraction for a second ride – no waiting!)

So come laugh about your layover, moan about the hurricane that blew away your beach day, and share your strategies for keeping the kids occupied when your plans are great but the weather isn’t cooperating. We’ll see you there next Monday – come rain or come shine!

WHEN: August 3, 9-10 pm ET (8-9 pm CT; 7-8 pm MT; 6-7 pm PT)
