Marco Island is located in Florida’s Paradise Coast, just north of the Gulf Coast entrance to Everglades National Park and just South East of Naples, allowing it to be surrounded by pristine mangrove estuaries on one side and the refreshing Gulf of Mexico on the other. The island has also been voted #6 “Top Island in the United States” as part of the 2015 Travelers’ Choice Islands 2015 Awards for its third consecutive year being honored. For a quick getaway staycation, we decided on an overnight at the luxurious Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa – a Four Diamond AAA hotel.
Although we read about Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa’s many amenities prior to arrival in Florida, we were still blown away by all their services and how truly modern and expansive the resort was with lots of dining options, family activities, a beautiful beach, large lagoon pools with water slides, golf courses, shops and more.
While only an hour drive away from me, this upscale beach resort truly felt like a tropical oasis. We didn’t have to leave the country to find it yet it still provided a similar comprehensive vacation experience that I thought could only be achieved internationally.

Typically from November through January families with children of all ages are in town for the holidays. One family I chatted with said they come every year for a week with their family, which has now expanded to three generations. I’m hoping to make it a holiday tradition for us too. Here’s just a few of the reasons why:
Beach & Pool
The white sandy beach is exquisite and worth spending an entire day or more enjoying. There are also two large pools on the property in addition to the private spa pool. The Tiki Pool has a waterfall, water slide, fun splash zone with fountains and a wading area for little ones to walk right in. The Tiki Pool is definitely the one to go to with kids. The resort also offers a Tiki Tribe Discovery Day Camp for ages 5-12 for an additional fee.
Daily guided WaveRunner, sailing and parasailing excursions are available too. Forgot your beach equipment? You can rent that here as well.
The spa here isn’t the typical run-of-the-mill hotel spa, but larger and grander than most free-standing spas that I’ve been to. This two floor spa and salon has a private fitness center, fitness classes, locker room, sauna, steam room, plunge pools, relaxation lounge, signature lemongrass amenities and private outdoor pool and deck. For registered hotel guests it’s $35 per person per day and $50 per person per day for local guests. I already made it known to my family that all future birthday and Mother’s Day gifts should be gift cards for a trip back to this spa. I want to spend a whole day there.
I was floored by the fact that the resort has nine different dining options from casual chic, to beach dining, including a sushi bar and a Caribbean restaurant. There is even an actual Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt chain on property too! I really appreciated the many dining options since it allows families to come back again and try something new without getting bored.
We dined at Quinn’s on the Beach, which is literally on the breathtaking beach. Over fruity cocktails we enjoyed a whole fried red snapper fish that peeled right off the bone and a yummy coconut fish appetizer. The laid back restaurant features Caribbean-style seafood and steak specialties, unique appetizers, favorite sandwiches and delicious drinks set the stage for a tasty tropical dining adventure.
In the morning, we headed to the breakfast buffet at Maia restaurant and again was impressed with the luxury of it with fresh squeezed juices, homemade pastries, omelet station and more. Our teas were even delivered in lovely cast iron pots too.
TravelingMom Tip: One of our favorite things to do when taking a vacation is to hire a photographer for family photos. This is a special gift and souvenir that we cherish. We use Flytographer to book a local photographer located in the area that we're traveling to. Use this link and you will get $25 off your photo session.
The bright, contemporary rooms come with flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and mini fridges. Suites add a number of features, ranging from panoramic ocean views and extra bathrooms, to separate living/dining rooms and bedrooms great for extended stays. Ours had an amazing view of both the pool and ocean.
Holiday Resort Deal
Right now, the hotel has a great deal going on that will let you take advantage of all these great amenities. Receive a $50 resort credit from November 13 through December 25 and a $100 resort credit for stays during December 26 through January 18. So, sip on festive handcrafted cocktails, indulge in fresh and unique cuisine, enjoy playing championship golf or relax with a soothing spa treatment. No matter how you choose to spend your credit, it will sure make for the perfect holiday getaway! More details here.
Another great Florida family-friendly getaway to consider too is the nearby Sanibel Island.
