TravelPlanWe’ve all made a travel mistake at some point. Whether it’s booking a hotel in the wrong city, showing up at the airport at your arrival time, or forgetting to book a return flight we gathered to share our sad tales on April 1st.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST TRAVEL OOPS? WRONG CITY, WRONG DAY, WRONG AIRPORT?

@neutkidz I forgot to book a hotel room for our wedding night and couldn’t get one because of a big conference in town.

@banina9 Wow- so many. Biggest travel mistake was when I forgot our passports 2 hours away from airport! Hubby was irate.

@lovernsavers I booked my son’s ticket on a different flight TWO DAYS LATER than ours!!

@heatheracts Getting lost on a road trip and driving two hours in the wrong direction.

@karen_dawkins Forgot to pack underwear for hub 2 trips. He now packs his own stuff.

@Annahi25 We showed up at the wrong hotel in Atlanta – right hotel company, wrong place.

HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR TRAVEL TO AVOID MISTAKES?

@nycmartini I just try to go over all paperwork & check my packing.

@mrrm7 It’s also good to send itinerary to other people.

@MichBrennan3 Double check booking dates, confirmation #’s in a travel notebook then double in smartphone.

WHAT WAS YOUR FUNNIEST TRAVEL MISTAKE?

@finnNtonic Forgot to bring spare clothes on airplane and my 6 month old son had a blowout 🙁

@nycmartini I don’t have 1 but hubby was detained at Canada border coming back to US cause he had same name as felon.

@CantonCathy Pretty scary to have forgotten all the passports, $1000 cash, drivers lic & all ID for me in McD’s in Georgia & find out in Florida.

@Raynekitten Having to drive through a sandstorm on our way home from New Mexico, with a driver who only had his license a week.

@shehanniganzScariest mistake was not getting the proper transit visa in China. Almost got stuck!

@fujifulgueras Scariest – Exchanging US dollars for Filipino pesos thru a black market middle-man…

WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR FIXING A TRAVEL MISTAKE?

@mhappynow Write them down and learn from the mistakes, make lists and apologize to those you have affected with your mistake.

@mrrm07 Put everything on credit card – they are huge help in time of need.

@purplepassion12 And think that one day you’ll be able to laught at it or at least discuss it at a twitter party!

@travelermom Remember that travel mistakes make great stories (for years) after the snafu.

@ihopeudancealot Best thing to do to get out of mistakes is turn on the charm 🙂

WHAT TRAVEL MISTAKE MADE YOUR TRIP BETTER? HOW?

@banina9 Missed flight in Rome, had to take ferry to Spain, that night on boat, with full moon- hubby & i had first kiss.

@LokaFreeThings2 🙂 A few wrong turns gave us a chance to explore & see what was available.

@FinnNTonic Flight was overbooked and we got upgraded to first class!!! Only happened once, but I pray it happens everytime we fly! LOL

@MichBrennan3 Rented house, another family in it when we arrived. Ended up with a better, higher end home closer to the beach.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR TRAVEL MISTAKES?

@allierose One time I checked my flight info and actually missed a flight because i had the wrong time in my mind.

@lovernsavers Try not to let the kids drive you crazy, make some me time.

@mommy3sons Expect the unexpected and patience.

@mmrm07 Keep a copy of your ID with you in case you lose it.

@DisneyMom917 I learned go with the flow – it always works out in the long run.

@purplepassion12 It’s an adventure, a challenge, and a lesson in problem-solving.
