hawaiiIt was a festive party on July 8th as we gathered together for our Monday twitter chat to talk all things island and Hawaii. From leis to luaus to volcanoes no stone was left unturned and no food was off limits for discussion. Read on to see our roundup of the evening.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LURE ABOUT HAWAII FOR YOU? WHY?

@shannonentin Lots of ppl think “relaxed” when they think Hawaii, but I think “volcanoes!” Would love to hike one.

@CindyRichards It feels so much more organic & natural in Hawaii than Carib. It’s really the culture vs. tourism.

@birdbanter So much beauty everywhere! And the laid back attitude. It’s so easy to forget your troubles & just relax.

@funkiemunkey The scenery with wonderful people, beaches, and surf!

HOW WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO SEE HAWAII? CRUISE? RESORT? ISLAND HOP?

@autiglobetrot I would love to see more cruise companies offer family cruises between the islands!

@JazzyTJan I love staying at a resort while in Hawaii. However, a cruise sounds nice too.

@shannonentin I love to cruise, but I don’t think I’d get to really experience enough with just daily excursions. I’d island hop.

@nicbran74 Resort for sure! All inclusive no worries! It was perfect!

@kjmaje I think a resort, and one of those helicopter tours!

HOW WOULD YOU TEACH YOUR KIDS ABOUT HAWAIIAN CULTURE?

@jazzytjan We watched some kid friendly videos about Hawaiian Culture to get us fired up about our trip.

@Mrs_Riot1 Do lots of online searching, show them pictures and videos.

@helyn4 Pearl Harbor was an experience… I cried being out at the Memorial!

@IslandSnoopy Move to Hawaii! 😉

@CindyRichards Love the warm, family-focused culture & the Hawaiian stories. So love the stories.

@dipaolamomma Learning is part of our planning for any trip. The Polynesian Cultural Center is a great resource http://www.polynesia.com/

WHAT’S YOUR FAVE ISLAND ACTIVITY?

@judy511 Well, I spent my honeymoon there…

@OahuVB Nothing better than a plate lunch, musubi or shave ice at the beach.

@shannonentin My son and I love snorkeling – have to get my daughter & husband to try it!

@outriggerhawaii Mine varies daily. I just kayaked Napali and currently that tops the list.

@debbutterflys Enjoyed snorkeling and feeding the fish, rented a Harley to tour the big island , had a blast.

@autiglobetrot Our kids had such fun interacting with the dolphins!!

@dargar7 I love the dolphins. Could watch them all day.

@travelwithteens Hiking to waterfalls and the Lava tree monument on the big Island felt like Jurassic Park.

WOULD YOU RATHER LOUNGE ON A BEACH OR EXPLORE THE WHOLE ISLAND? WHY?

@tibstravel Explore = my Hawaii delight; beaches w/less culture & heritage elsewhere for idle sunning.

@birdbanter I’m the same way. Would feel like I missed out if I spent whole time asleep on a beach! Can do that anywhere!

@DebMomof3 Definitely would want to explore & see as much as possible! And relax on the beach too. Want best of both worlds. 🙂

@mimitravelz We rent a car & find secluded beaches, small eateries, non-tourist stuff.

WHO WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO LEARN TO HULA WITH? WHY?

@tibstravel Must one wear a grass skirt below the belly button to properly learn the hula?

@allierose Hawaii 5-0 -handsome AlexO’Loughlin/Steve McGarrett.

@Teronya Thomas Sullivan Magnum -he’s still there, right? 😉

@Leighbra My son would be a RIOT learning how to hula. My daughter is “too cool” for that.

@judy511 Ryan Reynolds. Great abs

@GrandHyattKauai Our keiki hula dancers at our complimentary hula show in the lobby! They’re the best teachers!
