That’s what we’re talking about at our next #TMOM Twitter party. So join us for the tips that will ease your mind – and the fun that will conjure up only happy spirits!
October 26 #TMOM Twitter Party – Haunted Destinations
The leaves change color, the weather gets crisp, and pumpkin dominates our decorating and our cooking. Yes, we are fully embracing autumn right now. But as we approach the end of October, our thoughts – and our travel plans – turn to Halloween, the time to check out the haunted, the spooky, and the destinations that go bump in the night.
Despite the “frightening” nature of traveling to haunted destinations, travelers seem to embrace the opportunity to be scared. What else could explain the popularity of ghost tours, which can be conjured up in any major city? As much as we enjoy history, we also seem to embrace the dark side of our favorite destinations – and sometimes we even choose to travel to a place simply because of its seedy past! In recent years, TMOMs have visited many haunted sites, including the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, which inspired the hotel in Stephen King’s The Shining; Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar in New Orleans, a hotbed of voodoo and other sorcery; and Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia,a prison turned haunted house which boasts the likes of Al Capone and the torture of thousands of prisoners at the hands of captors. These sites, like many across the country, are enough to give shivers to even the bravest travelers – and, let’s face it, that’s why we love visiting, especially at Halloween.
So as the haunted holiday approaches, let’s gather around the campfire – or, better yet, the Twitter feed – and talk about our favorite spooky sites. We’ll share the details (so the faint of heart can be prepared!), share our favorite haunts, and talk strategies for our kids (after all, we’re looking to have fun – not deal with nightmares for months!). Join in the conversation on Monday, October 26, at the “witching hour” of 9 p.m. EST.
The thought of traveling unprepared can give any mom goose bumps, but never fear! The team at TMOM are here to help scare away your hesitations, and will turn your Halloween travel from tricks to treats. See you there Monday!
