When it comes to travel, planning is the key. There are so many decisions to be made – where to stay, what to do, how to get to your destination – that “winging it” just doesn’t seem to work. But what’s the best way to plan a vacation? How can you assure you’ll find the lodging that’s best for your family, the restaurants that suit your tastes, and the activities that bring will be remembered fondly long after the vacation is over? Well, you need to plan – and you can start by attending the #TMOM Twitter party on January 11.
January 11 #TMOM Twitter Party – Start With the Plan!
When I was younger (think, before kids), I was a subscriber to the philosophy of the author Earl Nightingale, “All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”
Now, of course, I could substitute “GPS” for “road map,” and I’d probably add things like “a budget,” “enough vacation time from work,” and, of course, “dining reservations made well in advance.” But even now, I agree with Nightingale on the most important part – if you want to have successful travels, some planning is in order.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the spontaneous trip, the quick overnighter, the long weekend just wheeling around and finding yourself
anywhere. But when it comes to investing my hard earned cash….not to mention my harder earned vacation time? I want some foreknowledge of where my travels will bring me. I want a guarantee there will be room at the inn and a seat at the table of the restaurant of my choice. In short, I want a plan.
And we at TMOMs think that’s what you want too. After all, you’ll never catch the cherry blossoms in bloom in D.C. or enjoy a cup of tea at the Grand Floridian in Disney World – let alone rock the city of Paris in four days! – without a little forethought. So to make the most of your travel time – and create really cherished memories – we suggest having a plan. And step one is joining us at our next #TMOM Twitter party, which is all about travel planning.
So get with the plan! Travel planning is a huge subject. How do you choose your destination? Is there a good way to compare hotels – and prices? Should the kids have a say in the itinerary? What are the best resources (besides TMOM, of course!)? And how in the world do you save for that dream trip? This will be a tips-filled hour, so be prepared to take a lot of notes…..and have a lot of fun!
Please join in as we share all our planning tips on January 11 at our #TMOM Twitter Party. Plan to be there – for an hour full of information that can’t be beat, from moms who have been there (and plan to be there again!).
