The holidays are swiftly sneaking up on us. Holidays with family leave even the strongest among us looking for coping mechanisms. Where will you travel to, will you stay with family or in a hotel, what is proper etiquette for posting pictures on social media? We covered all this and more on a recent Twitter party. Read on for a full roundup.

DURING THE HOLIDAYS DO YOU STAY WITH FAMILY OR IN A HOTEL? WHY?

@ramblingstump We won’t be traveling this year but normally w/ family. Grandparents want all the grandkid time they can get.

@AraPeet Def family. The kids love being with their aunts and uncles. Great bonding time.

@dipaolamomma We try to talk them into a hotel, because that is just less stress on us, but usually it’s staying with family.

@lovernsavers In a hotel usually. Our large family is too much in one location.

@DebMomof3 We either do day trips or family comes to us, so don’t usually need overnight. Wld do hotel if did though – we’re a lot to host.

@twinlins Never hotel unless longer stay. Now rents are across the street and bro only some 60 miles or so.

@walkingontravel If we go home we stay with fam. Flights are expensive. No $ for hotels.

@2MomsandAKid Depends. Usually at our family’s home. We have one stop we can’t stay in due to hazards in EVERY corner of the house.

@barblikos You only get 18 Christmases. I can travel when I am older & the kids want me to come to them.

TELL US ABOUT THE CHARACTERS IN YOUR FAMILY YOU SEE AT THE HOLIDAYS?

@dipaolamomma We have a “Cousin Eddie” type in the family that pulled up a ratty RV 1 yr causing my “Proper” grandma to nearly die of shame.

@CindyRichards They’re all characters. Loud. Funny. Opinionated. And drunk, which just ups the decibel level.

@alittlebiteof I have a friend who always arrives an hour late. We started telling her to come earlier, so she will come on time!

@gunnijunebugs A big clan of beer loving Irish folk!

@ConnieFoggles Too many characters to list, but they all are loud and fun… and eat too much!

@2MomsandAKid We have some great characters. Usually eggnog makes them my favorite people, for a night!

@CauriePutnam Oh gosh, that would take a book. Crazy bunch, but I love them all!

@faveplaceSsue Can’t take credit but friend’s uncle answers door w/tequila and u must do a shot to come in!

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO HOMETOWN ATTRACTION TO SHARE WITH VISITORS?

@suerodman I love the @AtlBotanical Gardens, especially during the Holidays. Most visitors want to see @GeorgiaAquarium & @WorldofCocaCola.

@weekendscount We love the Fort Worth downtown section. Love Christmas decor.

@CindyRichards I’m lucky enough to live in Chicago, so the possibilities are endless. Best: Millennium Park.

@jodis50 Our town has a huge light up tree that moves to the music.

@alittlebiteof Glendale Glitters, which is after Christmas, and the Desert Botanicals Luminaria.

@francesfrost We’re near DC so there’s always something – the Zoo, a museum, the White House.

@BeckyAdventure Bethlehem Village of Hope. Not my hometown, but close by!

@ConnieFoggles I wonder why I get so many guests? I live close to Orlando 😉

SHARE CRAZIEST/FUNNIEST FOOD, STORY, OR TRADITION FROM A FAMILY HOLIDAY EVENT?

@jasfields My mom had made broccoli. she was carrying it and stubbed her toe. Broccoli hit the ceiling and went everywhere.

@ConnieFoggles Craziest – We fight over the Turkey butt on T-Giving. Funniest – We sing Christmas songs – well that might be craziest too!

@barrettcaldwell We had dinner at 10pm because my mom forgot to thaw the turkey…before the days of all the stores being open.

@kimbahleejean Made a Nutella Cheesecake that did not mold properly and sort of, melted, all over the dessert table.

@motherearth2000 Forgot to take the giblets and neck out of the turkey.

@kimorlando We no longer go to Aunt’s house for turkey. Last time we went home and ordered pizza.

@TibsTravel Funniest food at holidays? My dear departed mother’s beet jello. Not bing cherries, but beets. Dreadful.

@lovernsavers My mom makes a huge bag of surprise wrapped goodies and everyone passes it around. Then we all open it. No idea what you might get.

WHAT FAMILY PHOTOS ARE APPROPRIATE TO SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA DURING THE HOLIDAYS?

@CarolYemola Photos of the family around the table as long as they all give permission.

@DebMomof3 I usually only share ones of my kids… Usually ask permission first if want to share any of other family members.

@FreeLikeBirdie We usually share one by the tree or all dressed up for Christmas dinner, very traditional I suppose.

@barblikos I like to see the different ways people set their holiday tables, their trees, the kids expressions on xmas morning.

@mellanhead I only really worry about kids in the photos. My siblings know they are being shared when they do something stupid.

@ConnieFoggles My family knows me very well – all photos are game for sharing on social media.

@IAmTheCoolAunt When posting pictures of my niece and nephew I always get parents’ permission first.

@gunnijunebugs Only the ones that I look good in!

@francesfrost I’ll tell you what’s not appropriate holiday photos – mom in p.j.s before coffee.

@Teronya Crazy hubby snuck off his shirt while on back row of fam holiday photo – looked like Sasquatch had joined in. HILARIOUS!

WHAT DO YOU BESIDES SHOP ON BLACK FRIDAY?

@judy511 Eat leftovers!

@2MomsAndAKid Drink lots of coffee while online shopping, once that gets old or we’re broke, the tree goes up!

@jasfields Go out to eat and go see a movie.

@barrettcaldwell I babysit and cook brunch for all my family/friends while they shop and get my items for me.

@dipaolamomma I loathe Black Friday shopping. Yeah, I know that’s odd. I’d rather spend the day decorating for Christmas & playing football.

@StaceyNerdin Go to the Portland Macy’s Holiday Parade. It’s early on Fri morn – my daughter is Drum Major of her marching band.
