On July 22nd we gathered together on a Twitter party sponsored by Visit California to talk about our favorite California sites, sounds, foods, and drives. We chatted everything from the Redwoods to San Diego and in between. Read on to see some of our top California travel tips.

WHAT DRAWS YOU TO CALIFORNIA?

@Happymom730 The wine I would love to go to where the wine is.

@CarissaRogers I went to CA 2 weeks ago SPECIFICALLY to FIND the Boy Scout Redwood TREE!!!! FOUND IT! 6mile RT hike! (Note: Read about Carissa’s 24 hours to explore California Redwoods...)

@TibsTravel What draws me to California? That coast drive watching the surf and rocky coast. Divine. (Note: Read Christine’s California Central Coast recommendations.)
@shebuyscars What keeps me coming back to Cali? Weather. Esp when is 3 feet of snow on the ground.
@mommaof4girlies I am still California Dreamin’ here in NY. I would be happiest in Wine Country!!
@CindyRichards What draws me to California? Sun, surf, sun, fun, sun, wine. Need I go on?
@momfluential I’m IN CA. I stay here for the weather. Nature and Sunshine and Sand and Snow possible in same day. Why leave?

WHAT’S ON YOUR CALIFORNIA BUCKET LIST?
@lorikeet8 So much diversity. Something for everyone…beaches, redwoods, theme parks, sun, sand, wildlife.
@stephsday Yosemite and The Redwoods! Our family loves the outdoors.
@Callie1981 To go to wine country in CA.
@heatheracts Camping always does the trick and CA has so may great places to camp!
@Pure_Wander Being in nature. Putting cell phones, ipods in a plastic bag and just soaking up the scenery!
@HillHouseRock Going to the beach!! There are some gorgeous ones in CA, and I’ve never seen the Pacific!
@GeekDad248 Going to Comic Con & San Diego Zoo on bucket list…

WHAT ACTIVITY GETS YOUR FAMILY (& YOU) TO UNPLUG?
@shebuyscars Perfect unplug involves pool & drinks with umbrellas in them, location not important, just sun and sunny people.

@kimorlando I can tell u what activity BETTER get my family unplugged- hiking, stargazing, biking, sequoias.
@idreamofjenn Daytrips with the windows open in warm weather is always relaxing too.
@bbpinktaz Cookouts by the river, hiking and canoeing add to the fun!
@DesertChica Swimming and playing at the beach, oh and roller coasters. it’s hard to play games doing any of those!

WHAT ARE SOME FOOD & WINE FAVES FROM CALIFORNIA?
@BrittaniWood Consider visiting in January, which is California Restaurant Month. Good value!
@PaulEisenberg Sage fried chicken & bacon-studded waffles w/maple caramel reduction at Hash House a go go, San Diego.
@RagdollKitty87 LA has great food because it is so diverse. Try Apple Pan in LA. I had it last week first time.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO PLAY IN CALIFORNIA & WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
@dipaolamomma Hubby & I went on our 3rd date at Legoland. I still have my Legoland Driver’s License.
@shebuyscars What to do in Cali? Off roading! Hungry Valley/LA has 130 mi of off road trails. Heard you can testdrive a Landrover there.
@mimitravelz Many locals don’t know about Channel Islands Nat’l Park in Venture/SB area. Sea caves, hiking, swimming.
@momfluential Also cannot forget about Santa Barbara and Capitola and and and… Coronado Island and last but NOT LEAST: CATALINA!
@4jlessad San Fran-Love that area it’s been over 35 years since I was there would love to see the sights again.
@mgmigt I would love to play in Yosemite: camping, bike riding, 2nd San Francisco; sight seeing, eating.
@Byrdy1999 Redwood Forest….be with the trees with a glass of wine and enjoy the wonder.

WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR ENJOYING A GREAT CALIFORNIA VACATION?

@momstart My best advice is to take a road trip to CA.

@dipaolamomma Adopt a California state of mind, relax, let it flow.. ENJOY!

@christielomb Give yourself enough time to see a lot of the state.

@YosemiteDNC California Road Trips are great to see the beauty & diverse landscape. Get ready for fun!

@alittlebiteof Take lots of photos and make new memories in CA!

@bbpinktaz Pick out a few places to see each day, make time to visit, don’t hurry in one day, you may miss out.

@LianneandEric Plan out a few things and then just WING IT for the rest! It’s so fun to have impromptu adventures!

@mgmigt Bring a bathing suit, a hat, & sunscreen to be prepared for fun in the sun.
