When you go away on vacation to another country, it’s always good to stay in contact. As a dad, I like to check in with Grandma and Grandpa to stay up to date on what’s happening with our kids while we’re abroad.
However, texting the traditional way can be very expensive when you travel abroad. If your family happens to all be an iPhone family, you can use iMessage to send text messages and pictures while on Wi-Fi while abroad. However, many families are a mix of Android, iPhone and other phones.
Lucky enough, there’s a solution: WhatsApp. This mobile messaging solution has been around for around 5 years now and is extremely popular. I recently saw a stat that says more than 1 billion people worldwide are using WhatsApp. The app makes it easy to send text-based messages, videos, images, and files to any other WhatsApp user worldwide.
One thing I love about WhatsApp – it will compress the quality of images/video based on your connection to the Internet. WhatsApp makes it easy to stay in touch with your friends and family, no matter where you are – or they are, for that matter. Group chats are easy too and WhatsApp groups are a fantastic way to post pics of your vacation adventures in real-time.
Use Wifi and WhatsApp to stay in touch!
So, the next time you’re on the go in another country, use WhatsApp to stay connected and save yourself a ton of money at the same time.
