Is Trattoria al Forno character breakfast at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort the worst Disney character breakfast? We believe it just might be the worst Disney character dining experience offered at Disney World. Here’s why.

Trattoria al Forno Character Breakfast Food

Let’s start with the food. Most Disney character dining includes a buffet or family-style all-you-can-eat food. Trattoria al Forno offers an a la carte menu. You get to pick one entree and a bread/pastry plate comes with your breakfast (currently priced at $34.99 per adult). We recently ate at 1900 Park Fare for their breakfast and for the same price, included an all-you-can-eat buffet with great food!

On top of the single entree issue, the menu options are strange. A calzone with eggs? Poached eggs? Steak and a cheesy egg torte? An omelet covered with smoked salmon? Where’s the bacon and eggs?

There’s nothing particularly bad about the food. We tried 4 different entrees and they were all good. Just strange breakfast entrees and not what we expected.

You can see what we got in the video.

Next up, the characters. The interactions were great! Flynn Rider even tried to teach Kelly and Hunter (our kids) how to do the smolder look.

You’ll notice, in these next pictures, though that the lighting in Trattoria al Forno was terrible. Flynn was the only character cognoscente of this issue and moved to the best possible lighting for the pictures.

Otherwise, the characters were backlit or it was terribly dark.

Guests visit character dining experiences to meet characters and get their pictures taken with them. Shocking, I know!

With poor lighting, it’s nearly impossible to get good pictures with the characters at the Trattoria al Forno character breakfast.

Overall, we’re glad we visited Trattoria al Forno, just for the experience. The food was good, once we wrapped our heads around the options. We all agreed though, we won’t be back. Be sure to take this into consideration when making your Disney Advanced Dining Reservations.
