Ever drive down the freeway and wonder what those bright yellow KOA Kampground signs represent? To anyone interested in camping, those signs represent fun! KOA Kampgrounds are an ideal way to test the waters to see if camping is an activity your family will enjoy. (I can almost guarantee everyone will have a blast!) If you don’t own an RV, try the Fly ‘N Drive RV rental program offered by El Monte RV and plan your evening stays to include KOA stops.
Right now we are on a cross-country trip with a rental RV from El Monte. That means we don’t worry about hotel reservations or finding a place to eat. For lunch, we stopped at a large visitor information center and enjoyed homemade avocado and tomato sandwiches on fresh sourdough bread. Dessert? A fresh pineapple we purchased earlier at a store for .99. Our evening entertainment included camping at a KOA Kampground that had two gigantic buffalo grazing by the KOA sign.
What to Do at a KOA
KOA Kampgrounds offer a variety of activities for all ages. I love their emphasis on clean bathrooms! By camping at a KOA Kampground, parents can relax as their children quickly make new friends riding bikes and playing in the pool. Most of all, you don’t have to tell your children, “Not so loud! We are in a hotel and you’ll disturb other guests!”.
Bringing your furry, four-footed family member? Many KOA campgrounds have Kamp K-9 pet parks with a fenced area and “doggy obstacle course equipment.”
Try KOA’s new app to help you quickly make reservations for a fun-filled stay. The app also lets you select campgrounds based on location or amenities such as pools and organized events. It even gives you driving directions!
We’ve stayed at many KOA Kampgrounds and always had a positive experience. One Halloween our daughter joined other young campers Trick or Treating from one RV to another. She hauled in a huge bag of candy! Other times we’ve enjoyed ice cream socials, musical entertainment and craft classes. The atmosphere is always family friendly, And let’s not forget those spotless bathrooms!
