Take a moment and think about the look on a child’s face as they see Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, or anyone else from the Sesame Street gang on television, on the computer, or in a book. Now think about what their face would look like if those characters were up close, eye-to-eye, and right in front of them. Now is your chance to turn the visual of their face into a reality.Coming to a stage near you is Sesame Street Live! A show filled with fun, music, lights, and all of the favorite Sesame Street characters. Currently there are three different (yet equally awesome) shows presented by Sesame Street. So put on some dancing shoes, check out their website, find out when and where you’ll be able to sing along with Elmo and the crew, and make it a daycation.
Sesame Street Live provides a unique musical opportunity for you and your child. As a child’s first theatrical performance, it marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of enjoying and learning through live performance. Most children are familiar with entertainment that happens on television and computer monitors but this a little different. This is a story happening right in front of them onstage. During the 90-minute musical production (including one 15-minute intermission) you and your family will hear a dynamic soundtrack, view amazing choreography, and be dazzled by lights and special effects.
The three Sesame Street Live shows currently on tour are:
Sesame Street Live! “Elmo Makes Music”
This is the show my family was lucky enough to go to. During the show you’ll meet Jenny, an enthusiastic new music teacher, who arrives on Sesame Street only to discover that her instruments are missing. Jenny’s new Muppet friends quickly come to the rescue and discover ‘instruments’ they never knew existed: rubber duckies, trash can lids, and even cookie jars. Elmo and friends teach children that everyone can make and enjoy beautiful music together. I may be an 80’s baby but I still recognized (and enjoyed) some familiar tunes such as “The Hustle,” “You Should Be Dancing,” and “Rockin’ Robin.” Elmo Makes Music features nearly two dozen songs, including classics that children will love to sing along with such as “C Is for Cookie” and “The Alphabet Song.” The main question I was asked after the show was if my 15-month-old toddler stood still and actually enjoyed the show. And I tell them, if we were allowed to take in video cameras, I could show you just how much he enjoyed it. He danced, swayed his arms, clapped, and oooo’d and aww’d at all the characters dancing and singing. He definitely had a fantastic time!
Sesame Street Live! “Elmo’s Super Heroes”
Super Grover has lost his super-ness and Sesame Street needs a hero! Never fear, the fabulous five Super Heroes are here – featuring Elmo as Captain Fuzzy! Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their friends are on a quest to put the “super” back in Super Grover. Singing and dancing their way through fun lessons on healthy habits, they discover how exercise, rest, nutritious food and good hygiene can save Super Grover — and turn your children into Super Heroes, too! You’ll be feeling good when Elmo’s Super Heroes comes to town!
Sesame Street Live! “1-2-3 Imagine! With Elmo and Friends”
Imagine singing and dancing with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all your favorite Sesame Street Live friends! It’s as easy as counting “1-2-3 … Imagine!” This high-energy musical will transport audiences to far away places as Ernie captains the high seas, Elmo dances to the rhythm of the African rainforest and Bert meets an octopus who has the blues. It’s a story of adventure and fun that teaches children they can be anyone, do anything and go anywhere with the power of imagination.
Sesame Street Live! Play Zone – FREE with your show ticket!
This was SO much fun! My boys had a blast getting their pre-show wiggles out. VEE Corporation introduces Play Zone at Sesame Street Live – a fun new way for children to experience their favorite street! Now your child can sit in Big Bird’s nest, pop up in Oscar’s trash can, twirl in Zoe’s dance studio, or visit Elmo’s World and play the piano. You never know who’ll make an appearance! Families won’t want to miss a single picture-perfect moment. The Play Zone opens one hour before the show and best of all, it’s FREE with your Sesame Street Live ticket!
Sunny Side Seats – A VIP Package for purchase
The Sunny Seats Package includes a VIP Seat and a pre-show Meet & Greet photo opportunity with two Sesame Street Live Friends. Sunny Seat orders will include a special admittance ticket for entry into the Meet & Greet. You will receive the special admittance ticket with the rest of your show tickets. All Meet & Greets start one hour prior to the performance.
Here is a picture of my family as we met Elmo and Zoe in the Playzone with our Sunny Side Seat tickets – despite the look on my children’s faces … they were thrilled to be sitting on the giant monster’s laps).
Regardless of which Sesame Street Live show is coming to a stage near you, I highly recommend that you take this remarkable opportunity to take a short road trip with your little one(s) and watch a Sesame Street Live production. Because in my opinion, you can’t beat a classic … and Sesame Street is one no matter how you look at it (nor what age you are).
