sunglasses are a necessity for a plane ride

Ok ladies, I’m no diva. In fact, when I travel I tend to be very low key. However, one thing will never change. I ALWAYS fly with a pair of sunglasses in my bag. If you are not on the same page, here’s four reasons why you should:

Reason Number 1: I Just Want To Sleep

It seems that 9 times out of 10 I go to sleep on a plane. It’s not for a lack of work believe me. Unfortunately, I suffer from migraines and excess reading or television watching typically results in a whopper. With the cabin pressure change, I know the best thing for me to do is SLEEP. When I put my sunglasses on during a flight, they acts as a shield between me and the world. I don’t feel funny about closing my eyes because no one can tell whether or not I’m truly awake. Well,

that is of course unless I’m drooling. 🙂

Reason Number 2: Block Excess Light To… See Number 1

I always try to get the window seat so I have the power to shut the shade. Yes, I know I should be enjoying the view, but that floats my boat for about 10 minutes and then my breathing begins to slow. Life happens and you always don’t get your seat of choice. If I’m sitting next to someone who loves to look at clouds for 6 hours in a row, I don’t want it to mess up my zzzzzzs. It’s a fail safe.

Reason Number 3: My Hair… Oh My Hair

I don’t know what it is with flying, but I come off of a plane looking like I just poured a jar of olive oil all over my head. I mean… how does this happen!!? After every flight (whether it be to Italy or Nantucket), I know whatever hairstyle I walked on with will still be somewhere behind in JFK. I need the sunglasses to wear as a headband until I get into my hotel room. It help me hide the excess oil and allows me to look semi-presentable.

Reason Number 4: I Usually Don’t Wear Makeup When Flying

I am a makeup fanatic. I’m also an early traveler, So, odds are I’m walking through security around 6 AM. There is NO WAY I’m putting on a full face that early in the morning. My sunglasses help me get through the day without accidentally turning people into stone. Trust me, it’s better for everyone this way. A little lip gloss – which I apply in the cab – goes a long way when you are wearing sunglasses.
