Where you eat matters.  Just because you are in a hotel room does not mean you should fire up the television and dig in. Cut down on the distractions such as television, telephones, reading or anything else that takes your mind away from the chore of eating your meal. 

If you are eating a meal while talking on the phone or wrapped up in a movie, you will probably miss the signal that you are full and keep eating until the food is gone.  Do not eat standing in the kitchen with the refrigerator open.  For some reason we usually do not count the food eaten that way.  Eat in a relaxed atmosphere when you can, even if it is only one meal a day.
