Big Kids Ski Free:
To demonstrate its commitment to cultivating lifelong skiers, Idaho offers free skiing to 5th and 6th Graders. You don’t have to be an Idaho resident to take advantage of the Ski Idaho Fifth and Sixth Grade Passport Program. Lookout Mountain: At Lookout Mountain, they have installed a new chair lift… on the beginners’ slope. Success (the name of the new triple chair) is where you learn to ski. This ½ hour program is offered exclusively for a parent and child just learning to ski. The goal is to help both the adult and child to work together and enjoy the learning process resulting in the child using their own strength and not relying on mom or dad to hold them up. Additionally, we’ll show you some tips on using your poles to assist your child. You can come with your own harness and/or edgie wedgie.
Schweitzer, the Lake Tahoe of Idaho

At Bogus Basin, Boise’s local ski resort, kids under 7 and adults over 70 ski free! Rentals are inexpensive and you can also lease your skis for the season for a song. There’s no reason not to do it!
