Traveling without electronics seems almost impossible on a family vacation these days. However, you CAN limit the time you and your kids spend with electronics. The Orlando Family keeps trying to get it right. This time in Aruba.
Is a Digital Detox Family Vacation Even Possible?
When TravelingMom Founder Kim Orlando took her family to Aruba, she wanted them to put away their smartphones and tune into this luxury family vacation. What happened? Well, it was a challenge, to say the least. Even her husband wasn’t fully onboard.
Even $20 to spend on souveniers wasn’t enough to keep her teens from texting.
Here’s a video of her less-than-successful adventure:
Family Vacation in Aruba
When the kids weren’t on their phones or stationed in front of the televison, the Orlando family explored caves, walked on gorgeous beaches, ate some incredible food, played some serious golf courses and tried their hand at windsurfing.
At least being in the water forced a temporary digital detox!
Where to Stay in Aruba
The Orlandos stayed at the lovely Westin Resort and Casino on Palm Beach. Mom and daughter headed to the spa for a mother-daughter massage. Hubby, however, headed to the lounge where he watched the game.
It wasn’t a complete digital detox, but the Orlando family managed to cut down on electronics time and spend quality family time together on their family vacation in Aruba.
