Best Travel Deal Sites That Save You Money

When we travel, I’m pretty budget conscience as we do not have unlimited funds. I try to save throughout the year, but let’s be honest. Most of the time life gets in the way. I remember being skeptical when Groupon and Living Social started popping up, even when I heard about the discounts offered. But as time has gone on, I’ve learned to embrace those incredible money-saving websites.

Save on Travel Packages with TravelZoo and Groupon

I swear the number of websites offering inclusive travel packages is growing each day. It isn’t too hard to find one that offers exactly what we are dreaming about.

Recently, I was exploring ideas for a couples’ only trip and boy, and was I ever blown away by some of the cheap vacation deals. I’m talking $799 for a week-long Ireland adventure or $699 for 4 nights in London or Paris including air found on Travelzoo.

One of the top travel deal websites is Travelzoo. When I’m searching for air and hotel packages, that is usually my first stop. Being able to find deals from over 2000 different companies all on one website is priceless to this busy mom of 3. I also receive weekly emails that give me a heads up on their top 20 deals that include local activities – perfect for that rare night out.

Groupon has expanded to included vacations under their Groupon Getaways section. That is my second stop.  While it features many of the same packages as Travelzoo, each site offers exclusive vacations available only on their site.

Granted, flexibility is the key to scoring the best deal from any of the travel deal sites. The lowest prices advertised are usually flying out of major east coast airports, but most offer extremely discounted prices out of other airports.

Bargain Prices for Luxury Hotels

After airfare, hotels are the biggest budget crusher for us. But with deal websites, we can score deluxe accommodations for value prices.

Using these websites has given my large family the opportunity to stay at three to four-star hotels for what it would have cost us to stay at a two-star hotel.

We have scored a two-night stay at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for just over $200 for the entire stay using the express deals on The average price for a room at the resort starts at $174 per night. We saved almost $150!

Another great deal was for a holiday trip to San Francisco, California. I nabbed a great deal on Groupon for $150 a night at the Argonaut Hotel located in Fisherman’s Wharf area, including breakfast and drinks for two.

Sometimes rooms are cheaper on sites that are mainly hotel driven, but many times sites like Groupon and Travelzoo include extras such as breakfast, drinks or meal credits. So, they can end up being a better deal when adding the extras.

Discover Adventure without the Cost

For my family, experiences make the vacation. We love to get out there and try new things, but the cost can hold us back. That is why I have fallen in love with deal websites.

The travel sites offer great discounts on many popular activities and tours.  We have saved tons on experiences like cooking classes in Las Vegas, Nevada and Ice Land in Galveston, Texas.

As soon as our destination is set, I hop over to Living Social, Groupon and Travelzoo to see what adventures await us. Some are only good for certain dates, but most certificates are good for up to 120 days from the date of purchase.

We not only use the deal websites when we are traveling but also for local activities like snorkeling in La Jolla, California. And lately, many popular concerts and shows such as Cirque du Soleil have been deeply discounted as well on Groupon.

TravelingMom Tip: Always read the small print, because you don’t want to be surprised by extra costs such as equipment rental fees.

Dining Out Doesn’t Have to Cost A Lot

My family not only uses travel deal websites for vacations and experiences, but also for meals. We have been able to enjoy mouthwatering meals ranging from sushi and French cuisine to hole in the wall burger joints. And all at an incredible discount. Plus, I love having meals already planned and paid for before we travel!

Many of the restaurants listed on the sites are unique, local hidden gems that most would have passed by. They have delicious food to offer and are just looking to get their names out there to tourists and locals.

When looking for discounted meals, I always check to see what is being offered. Sometimes it’s $50 for a $100 certificate and other times it’s a full meal for a discounted price. Many times the full meals are for two people which are wonderful when we take couple only trips.

Restaurant certificates have varying expiration dates and some restaurants also require reservations, so I always make sure to double check before purchasing.

My family loves to travel, but the budget doesn’t always like it. Using websites such as Traveling Mom’s Last Minute Travel Club, Groupon, and Travelzoo to name a few, allow us the freedom to get out there and explore new sights and surrounds. And our wallet appreciates the savings we get.
