Sounds like a gimmick, doesn’t it? I’m telling you ladies, this little mini-vacation lifts my spirits and energizes me every time. All you need is your car, someone to mind your little one for half an hour and some really great music. Preferably, music from the 80’s – or maybe that’s just me?
Let’s face it. Most of us cannot travel everyday, week or month. But, we can still let loose a little and get that carefree, vacation feel.
Here’s how I do it:
- Gather your supplies. (car keys, music, sunglasses)
- Enter car.
- Roll the windows down.
- Drive. It doesn’t matter where.
- Turn the music up…LOUD…LOUDER!
- Sing. Sing loud… LOUDER!!
- Continue for 30 minutes before returning to reality.
WARNING: This only works if the weather is nice, the music is loud and you are singing at the top of your lungs! Seriously. I’ve tried other methods. They are not effective.
It is truly amazing how a little singing, fresh air and 80’s big-hair bands can lift my spirits. The point to this somewhat silly post, is this: You do not have to be on a tropical island to unwind. Is sand and surf my first pick? Heck, yeah! But, when the finances are rough, the kids have special needs and you are at the end of your rope a simple 30 minute pick-me-up will make a difference. Try it and call me in the morning.
