Simple Secrets to Break Bad Food Habits on the Road!
It is so difficult to get your kids to eat well on the road! It’s a job in itself to make sure you eat nutritious food and you’ve understood the benefits for years. Your kids don’t really get that yet. You try coercing them to eat their veggies time and time again. Not many of us have trained as psychologists, drill sergeants, chefs or food stylists. Eating healthy gets harder while traveling. Fast food seems so tempting but it’s a good time to be strong. We need to build stronger food habits! Break from your usual routines! It’s a great opportunity to work on food issues. You and your kids can balance daily diets and develop good brain fitness habits using strategic nutrition and my secret weapon:
Get kids to eat healthy brain fitness food with color. I’ve personally tested and used these great tips and tricks. They made my life easier, made my kids happier and brought creativity and joy into our travels. I hope it will last throughout their whole life. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!
I want to share my secrets with you.
Okay. First, my disclaimer: I’m an artist and a “Brain Fitness Art” authority. I think outside the box. I see the world in a creative and colorful way. You don’t need to be an artist to live a creative life. Everyone can learn something new, especially when it’s a survival technique. Believe it or not, bubie, this is something that will help you survive the first 25 years of motherhood, especially while traveling with your brood… After that, they’re on their own!
To get started, we need to stimulate the visual brain. Let’s start with color.
Your Eyes are the Door to Your Stomach. Your Brain is the Key.
We’re going to think about food in a very different way. You need to bring abstract concepts into your life. This is the foundation of my brain fitness process. They will stimulate your brain in a very different and exciting way. What will you get out of working on brain fitness? Studies show there are many positive benefits: Improved memory, enhanced focus and concentration, higher school grades, increased success at work, faster reaction time, and a boost in creativity!

Food is Fun, Not Fuel!: Tip #1
Stop thinking about food as food! Change the way you see and you will change the way you think. Think about all the colors you see around you. Think about the colors you see in your food. Think about the texture of your food. Think about each bite. Practice mindfulness. This creative thinking stimulates the brain and helps strengthen existing neural pathways while building new ones.
Be Critical of Food, Don’t Criticize Food: Tip #2
Think about your food habits. What was the color of the food you put in your mouth this morning? Give it a second. Having trouble? Sometimes we are moving so fast, we forget to pay attention to the little details. Think of it this way, for example, if you had blueberries and cream at breakfast, the answer would be blue and white. If you had strawberry yogurt and bananas, the answer would be pink, yellow and black or brown (for the seeds). Extra points for noticing the details! Talk it over with your kids. Make it a game. Ask them what colors they eat each day! Thinking about color this way will stimulate the brain and help develop these food habits!
Kid Tested, Parent Approved
I have created, practiced and taught these concepts and techniques to develop better food habits in dozens of countries, to thousands of people, of all ages and abilities… and it works! My two kids and I got through years of local and world travel together. This is one of the ways we survived and thrived! Make everyday tasks fun and watch how easy and enjoyable they become.
My kids have gone on to become adventure world travelers themselves. My daughter, Chelsea, traveled solo everywhere from Mexico to China. My son, Jesse, flew to Bali on his own and then told me that he was “hopping over” to Australia and New Zealand before heading back to the States. They have traveled the world numerous times.
When you show your children creative ways to discover the world around them, you give them the keys that open up the universe and all its possibilities. This is one of the more valuable gifts we can give and share with our kids.
