If your summer family travel includes visiting colleges, then afer a while, you may feel like “been on one campus tour, you’ve been on them all, right?”
No, no, no. There’s nothing mundane or routine on the campus of Sewanee: The University of the South. On this spectacular Tennessee campus, visitors can tour not only the traditional campus, but they also have the option of touring an entire domain.
“The Domain” is a 13,000 acre area on top of the Cumberland Plateau which includes Sewanee’s rural campus along with breathtaking natural beauty. According to Amy Hill, assistant director of admissions, hiking boots and trail maps are available for prospective students to use.
The school offers guided hikes, led by current students, two days a week, rain or shine, as part of their campus visit program. With 60 miles of hiking and biking trails, there’s a lot to see, do, and explore while contemplating where to go to college.
