Luxurious accommodations, exemplary customer service, and family fun; yes, all these things can go together when you stay at the Omni Hotel CNN Center Atlanta. Recently, my family and I had the opportunity to pack our bags, hop in our SUV and make the 25 minute trek from our home to downtown Atlanta for a weekend staycation at the Omni. Excited to escape the suburbs, my kids (Miles, 10 and Milan, 8) couldn’t wait to get to the hotel which is always an adventure for them. I was ready to relax and feel spoiled after running 19 miles that morning; I’m training for the Chicago Marathon next month.
It’s located in the heart of downtown Atlanta within CNN World Headquarters, connected to the Georgia World Congress Center and Phillips Arena (home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks) and is directly across the street from Centennial Olympic Park – a prime location. We parked our car and didn’t move it again until it was time to go home. While we were there we made the rounds at CNN, the World of Coca-Cola, The Georgia Aquarium and had dinner at Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria. Walking everywhere was convenient and fun for the kids.
It was luxurious but livable. I felt swanky and pampered as soon as I was greeted at the valet, but didn’t fear that my kids wouldn’t be able to touch anything. The hotel has 1,070 guest rooms and 31 suites between two connecting towers. They have a Grand Ballroom, flexible meeting space, a workout facility and a fabulous outdoor pool. We had breakfast at their Prime Meridian Restaurant which offers local and regional cuisine. If you’re there, definitely make time for the breakfast buffet. Ahem.
We stayed in two connecting deluxe rooms in the North Tower – one with two double beds for the kids; and my husband and I had a comfortable king size bed. Connecting rooms are the way to go, especially as your kids get older. We had plenty of space to relax, yet could close the doors for privacy if we wanted it. The kids loved the snacks and goodies that were there for us when we arrived; and the milk and cookies that were brought to the room for them were a big hit.
The customer service was awesome. I genuinely felt like the entire staff wanted to make sure my family and I were having a GREAT experience.
The location is perfect to get to so many of Atlanta’s prime attractions.
The fitness center was calling my name. While I didn’t get to use it, of course I had to go and check it out. It was clean, spacious, and filled with state of the art equipment – so important for staying healthy on the road.
They are kid friendly which truthfully was not my first thought when I think Omni Hotel. I’m happy to share that they made me and my family feel comfortable and have many special touches – like the Omni Sensational Kids program – just for little ones.
There wasn’t much to find fault with. My entire family had a wonderful stay and would go back in a heartbeat – next week sounds good. If you are traveling with your children you might want to bring a portable device for them to watch movies or recorded programs. While they have cable TV, there wasn’t many children stations, only Cartoon Network which changes to more adult programming at night.
