“They say neon lights are bright on Broadway. They say there’s always magic in the air”…This past week I was in New York City. I managed to squeeze in two Broadway plays in my weekend trip, Mary Poppins and Promises, Promises. They were my first experience with a play on Broadway.I had no idea what to expect. Both were wonderful yet very very different from each other. The talent in both was amazing!
Promises, Promises had an adult theme with infidelity and questioning one’s morals and integrity. Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes were both charming and amazing in their roles. The music was Broadway style. I wanted to sing along. It made me remember why I love Sean Hayes. This is definitely a play for adults but worth seeing.
Mary Poppins is a must see for the whole family. The special effects will wow the kids. My favorite number was the beautifully choreographed “Step in Time.” The play is a bit different from the Disney movie but just as entertaining and enjoyable. It is a play that will delight you in the beginning and get better and better as it goes on.
Tip: The seats in the play houses are small so for those with long legs I would suggest getting an aisle seat.
