NASA and the Eventi Hotel in Chelsea have partnered to take the public into outer space courtesy of vivid virtual tours of the universe and beyond. The Eventi Plaza will be transformed into a “mini space outpost” filled with spacecraft displays, demonstrations, interactive exhibits, screenings and fun children’s activities.
Visitors can find out what it takes to be a NASA astronaut by interacting with NASA’s Home and City video game and discover how everyday household items were inspired by space-age technology. A walking gallery will showcase many of the commercial products developed from NASA technology. Visitors can interact with NASA craftsmen who build scale models of NASA aircraft and space vehicles, or join a simulation where one can become a part of the Moon Base Alpha crew and help to find a solution to restore the life support capability to a lunar habitat after a meteorite impact and even drive a rover across a “lunar terrain.”
The event takes place from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Wednesday August 17 at the Eventi Hotel, 851 Avenue of the Americas, New York City.
