This generation of children is accustom to high-tech entertainment, water parks and video screens. So, to many of them, nature is … well … boring.Of course it’s not. But are we traveling moms depriving our children of precious nature bonding time? A recent U.S. News & World Report story <http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/2008/02/13/why-kids-need-a-big-dose-of-nature.html> says we are.The story has some surprising info: national park attendance is actually DOWN. Being in nature has physical health benefits, and prevents diseases. There’s also a benefit they didn’t mention in the story: nature is often FREE. I just wonder how kids will react when I say, “No, let’s not go to Six Flaggs Great America. Let’s go canoeing!”To be continued.
