I’ve never attended a Marathon Weekend before, but it sounds like an awesome event. My two youngest children will also be participating in events of their own on Friday. Libby, our second grader, will run in the 800 meter race, while Max, 13, will be trying the Mickey Mile. I’m the designated cheerleader this time around – and of course the loudest cheering will be on Sunday, when my husband runs the 26.2 mile course that will take him through all four Disney theme parks. How’s that for celebrating his big 4-0?
We ended up renting a villa in the Windsor Palms section. This is sight unseen, but we’ve had good experiences before so we’re hopeful that the five-bedroom, private pool home away from home will suit our needs nicely. (Yes, we need all that room – besides us and our kids, several family members from across the country will be meeting up with us to cheer Scott on!)
We purchased our theme park passes at home, so we won’t eat up precious park time doing those transactions in Disney. And the added bonus of buying tickets from our local AAA is that we received a Diamond Parking Pass, which gets us premiere parking in the lots at all the parks. This is so convenient when you’re leading (or carrying) sleepy kids out of Disney Studios after a day of Toy Story Mania!
We’ve made reservations at all our favorite restaurants 180 days in advance. This time tomorrow, I will be just hours away from a dinner at Chef Mickey’s (our traditional first meal there). I’ll keep you posted on the rest of our fab dining plans, which includes a celebratory dinner at Les Chefs de France after the race. Our first time there – I’m really looking forward to the creme brulee.
More to come….next time from sunny FLA!
