Many people consider Disney World as a destination for families, especially those with small children. But, I’ll let you in on a secret. Walt Disney World makes a wonderful trip for adults too, especially girlfriend getaways. You just need to know where to stay and what special things to do to have the best time with your BFF!
Before You Plan
The most important thing to do before you embark on your getaway is to decide on the purpose of your trip. Do you want to relax and get pampered, party all night, taste delicious meals and fine wine, or act like a kid? This will guide you as you make your reservations and plan your trip.
Choose Your Place to Stay
You can choose where to stay based on finances, but also on atmosphere and amenities. For example, if you want to relax and be pampered, choose a resort that has a spa on site and has more of an adult ambience, such as Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. If you want to act like a kid Disney’s All Star Music Resort would make a good choice. With its musical décor in every room and throughout the resort area, two large pools and an arcade will easily bring out the child in you. Each resort has at least one restaurant and various types of recreation, so look into that as well.
Why not book your girlfriend getaway around a special event held at Disney World? For those of you who enjoy adventurous trips, try out one of Disney’s marathons. Disney’s Sounds Like Summer Concert Series will create memories for music lovers. There’s always that time of year just for those of you who want to wine and dine – EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival.
Adults can enjoy their time at each of the Disney World parks. Research which parks appeal to you before and then buy your tickets, or get a Park Hopper so you can go from park to park. There are water parks too. Another suggestion is to take a group tour in one of the parks that suits your interests. There are many to choose from such as the Wild Africa Trek or Backstage Magic. There are all types of (small) cruises available including the Fireworks Cruise.
Walt Disney World offers so many unique activities for girlfriends to have fun! Visit Downtown Disney and have an ice-cream sundae, go shopping for clothing, and bring back some candy to your resort room. There are five golf courses at Walt Disney World and each has a place to eat and grab your choice of drink, including alcoholic beverages. In fact, beer and wine are served at the parks and other mixed drinks at restaurants within the parks (all except for the Magic Kingdom). Visit Disney’s Boardwalk, have dinner, walk along the water, watch a street performer and enjoy dessert. Go to the circus, that is Cirque de Soleil Le Nouba, and see if who says, “Wow” first. Buy the craziest hat you can find and wear it as you take in a soccer game at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Take along a pen and paper because you just may run into a famous athlete.
Of course, you can get your photos taken with Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and even Prince Charming at the parks. Scream your head off as your ride Tower of Terror. Enjoy a meal from another country in EPCOT and meet the wait staff that is from there as well. Ask your server to suggest your entrée and your sommelier to help you chose a wine to pair it with. Talk and enjoy each other’s company while on your hotel balcony. Do what you both enjoy and can’t do at home. And it’s all waiting for you at Walt Disney World.
