During a recent visit to Orlando, my family of four stayed at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista. I admit to having reservations about the experience. My family–especially my daughters (ages 7 and 16)–are Disney lovers and have only stayed in Disney Resorts during our Disney trips. Staying at a Disney Resort keeps us in a “Disney bubble” as I like to call it. Our minds were quickly changed once we checked into the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista; a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel.Affiliate dislosure

TMOM-disclosure-graphicWhen my daughters turned on the television they were excited to see Stacy J giving us all of her “Must Do Disney” tips. If you aren’t sure who Stacy J is, she is a Disney personality who provides tips and tricks for Disney theme park visits. It was neat to see that this was extended to the Good Neighbor Hotels. First-time visitors will certainly benefit from her park tips.

To qualify as a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, the property must:

  • Offer standard rooms, suites and villa accommodations
  • Be AAA approved
  • Meet Disney standards in quality and service
  • Have a dedicated Good Neighbor hotel desk to assist guests with vacation planning
  • Provide Walt Disney World Resort information to guests PRIOR to arriving at the theme parks

All Suites

Embassy Suites offer all-suite properties with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and living room including a sleep sofa; many rooms also include a kitchenette. With suites that sleep up to six, Embassy Suites is a great option for larger families who need to do Disney World on a budget. The Lake Buena Vista property is a prime location is less than five miles from the entrance of Walt Disney World Resort. We were able to navigate our way around very easily.

If you are a family on a budget, yet still looking for a resort close to Disney, I highly suggest Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista. Here are the offerings you will find during your stay.

Evening Manager’s Reception: Each evening in the lobby, the hotel hosts a reception with snacks and complimentary drinks from 5.30-7.30 p.m. My family arrived late so we, unfortunately, missed the reception.

Dining: The Gazebo Restaurant and Grille serve lunch and dinner daily. Feel free to enjoy your meal poolside or in the open Atrium. You may also order room service from the restaurant. The evening of our arrival we enjoyed burgers and snacks poolside. It was nice not to leave the resort and be able to let our youngest daughter swim after a long flight.

Daily Breakfast: I believe Embassy Suites offer the best FREE breakfast (no powdered eggs here) compared to Country Inn & Suites or Holiday Inn Express. Offering cereal, fresh fruit, assorted meats, potatoes, toast/bagels and cooked-to-order omelets, you can certainly fuel up before a full day in the Disney theme parks. The morning chef was delightful, he certainly made a great start to our day.

Recreation: The resort has many amenities to enjoy on a day off from the parks. You will receive a resort guide upon check-in with times listed for activities, including these:

  • Wii Tournaments
  • Coloring/Arts & Crafts
  • Bingo
  • Corn-Hole Tournaments
  • Cookie Decorating
  • Basketball Tournaments
  • Nightly Dive in Movies
  • Poolside Games & Music

The pool area at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista is quite large; offering an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and kid’s splash and play area. There is ample seating around the pool area, many of the spaces are equipped with large umbrellas. Spend the whole day enjoying the outdoor amenities and rent a private Cabana!

Spa Services: The Venus Spa offers a wide range of treatments for all your relaxation needs. Make an appointment for a private poolside cabana; to enjoy massages, manicures, and pedicures. My favorite treatment offered is the Mommy & Me package for kids 12 & under. Choose from manicures, pedicures, massages, and facials for yourself and your Princess.

Walt Disney World Tickets: When you are ready to visit the Disney Parks, visit the lobby to purchase your tickets from the Good Neighbor Hotel Ticket Center. The Concierge will help with your questions and ticket needs from 7a.m-3p.m. daily. I found them to be quite knowledgeable after a short visit.

Theme Park Transportation: The Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista offers a shuttle to the Magic Kingdom 3 times per day and 4 return shuttles per day. Once you arrive at the Magic Kingdom you can utilize the free Disney Resort transportation to get to the Disney theme parks or Disney Springs.

Disclosure: I was given a (1) night stay complimentary from Embassy Suites in return for my review. The opinions are my own. A Traveling Mom cannot be bought.
