Have you ever had a meal so fantastic you find yourself thinking about it months later? I had heard all the hype about Disney World’s California Grill, but didn’t really believe “fine dining” at Disney World existed. Needless to say when California Grill at Disney World’s Contemporary Resort wowed me, I changed my mind. Now almost an entire year later I am still thinking about that meal!
As you can see from the pictures the food was beautiful. It was a six course meal, but I only got pictures of three courses. The first picture is of an appetizer we had the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Pesto, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Basil. The second photo is of our main courses:
- Oak-fired Filet of Beef, Dauphinoise Potatoes with Smoked Bacon, Ginger-Scented Carrots, and Teriyaki Barbecue
- Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze
- Sage Crispy Chicken and Leg Confit, Heirloom Pumpkin with Pecans, Winter Vegetables, Tangerine-Pomegranate Jus.
I was with a large party (my fellow Traveling Moms) so there was lots to choose from. Everything we had is on their regular menu too! You might notice the steak is closets in the pictures. What can I say, I’m from Texas. If there is a choice between steak and something else the choice will always be steak! If you are looking for somewhere to get a great steak at Disney World this is the place.
No dinner is complete without dessert and ours was finished with a delicious combination of Bananas and Caramel: Crispy Baked Phyllo Squares layered with Banana, Caramel, Mascarpone Mousse, and Caramelized Banana.
