Being a military wife for more than 10 years, I know how precious family time can be. Many times I’ve dreamed of taking a vacation once the current deployment was over only to be dropped back into “it’s not in the budget” reality. But with all the discounts available at Disney World, this military mom has been able to make it happen many times!

1. Disney World Tickets

Let’s be honest: Disney tickets are one of, if not the most expensive part of a Disney vacation. With the 2018 Disney Armed Forces Salute, military families save hundreds on park tickets!

Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket Prices

Enjoy hopping from park to park with the park hopper tickets or expand the fun with the park hopper plus and check out the water parks or mini golf!

OUR LATEST VIDEOS
  • 4-day park hopper for $226 plus tax
  • 4-day park hopper plus for $266 plus tax
  • 5-day park hopper for $246 plus tax
  • 5-day park hopper plus for $286 plus tax

This amazing ticket deal is available January 1, 2018 through December 19, 2018, to eligible service members, Department of Defense Civil Service workers and Contractors. Those last two groups were added in the fall of 2018 on a temporary basis. The deal is available to them at least through the end of 2018. It does not include the room discounts.

Prices for the Armed Forces Salute tickets will rise slightly for 2019:

  • 4-day park hopper for $241 plus tax
  • 4-day park hopper plus for $291 plus tax
  • 5-day park hopper for $257 plus tax
  • 5-day park hopper plus for $307 plus tax

The 2019 ticket offer is valid January 1, 2019 to December 19, 2019. Tickets are only valid in the year they are purchased, so don’t expect to buy tickets at the lower 2018 price and use them in 2019!

*As of now, the 2019 deal does NOT extend to DoD Civil Service workers and Contractors.

2. Disney World Resort Hotels

In addition to the ticket discount, Disney’s Armed Forces Salute offer includes special savings on resort hotel rooms. This allows military families to surround themselves in the Disney magic along with taking advantage of all Disney has to offer including resort transportation, Extra Magic Hours and the Disney dining plan.

Disney Armed Forces Salute room discounts

  • 40% off Deluxe Resorts
  • 35% off Moderate Resorts
  • 30% off Value Resorts

The room discount runs through December 19, 2019. Military room discounts are not available for stays between April 14, 2019 to April 25, 2019.

Military discounts at Disney includes a savings of 50% on Memory Maker.

3. Disney’s Memory Maker

My absolute favorite souvenir! Imagine getting that perfect photo in front of Cinderella Castle or capturing Johnny’s first time on Splash Mountain. Memory Maker allows guests to download ALL photos taken by Photopass photographers throughout the parks and those expensive ride photos.

Memory Maker is normally $199, but military members can purchase it for $98 plus tax at any ticket booth. That is more than 50% off!

4. Disney Special Event Parties

Each year to go along with the Armed Forces Salute deal, Disney has offered deeply discounted tickets on select dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

2018 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, eligible dates: August 17, 24, 28 & 31; September 3, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, & 18

  • $56.25 plus tax per adult
  • $51.10 plus tax per child (3-9)

2018 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, eligible dates: November 9, 12, 13 and 15, 2018

  • $71.50 plus tax per adult
  • $66.40 plus tax per child (3-9)

Party tickets can be purchased at Disney ticket windows or Shades of Green Resort. Some dates may sell out, but because these tickets can NOT be purchased in advance, Disney will continue to sell the military discounted tickets for sold-out dates.

5. Shades of Green Resort

This deluxe resort calls Disney property home and is exclusively for military service members. Room prices are based on military rate and date of stay.

I love Shades of Green for the simple fact that the rooms are HUGE, and all rooms sleep up to five or more. This is most noteworthy for our family of five because it saves us from having to bump up to a suite.

The resort also features a fully operational ticket office and an Exchange filled with Disney souvenirs. And did I mention those souvenirs are tax-free?! That bonus alone can save families tons while still getting official Disney merchandise. A recent change allows guests staying at Shades of Green Resort to take advantage of the 60-day Fastpass+ booking window!

6. Entertainment outside of the parks

From hot air balloon rides to lush golf courses, Disney World is so much more than theme parks. Many of these extras offer military discounts if asked. Here are just a few that have been known to give discounts recently.

  • Aerophile (formally Characters in Flight)
  • AMC Theaters
  • AMC Dine-In Theater
  • Disney’s Golf Courses – Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista
  • Disney’s Oak Trail 9 hole walking golf course

7. Dining at Disney Springs

Our family loves eating at Disney World – maybe more than riding rides. We enjoy soaking in the unique atmosphere while shoveling the delish food in our mouths. Again, best bet to finding military discounts at Disney is by asking; the restaurants in Disney Springs are no different. Here are some of my favorites.

  • House of Blues – 25% off
  • Raglan Road – 20% off
  • Cookes of Dublin – 20% off
  • Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop – 20% off
  • T-Rex Cafe – 10% off
  • Rainforest Cafe – 10%

8. Shopping Disney Springs

Disney Springs has been undergoing a major transformation for years and it just continues to grow. These four stores are known for giving military discounts. Hopefully, as more shops open the list will also grow.

  • Vera Bradley
  • Basin
  • House of Blues
  • Planet Hollywood

Military discounts are always changing, so my motto is “it never hurts to ask.” I also make sure both my husband and I have our military IDs handy, so we’re ready when they say “yes!”
