Downtown Disney at Disney World is an absolute blast when traveling with kids because it is a mixed atmosphere that appeals to all ages. It is full of shops, restaurants and activities. Many of the activities are completely free. Just walking around looking at stuff will be fun, because like everything at Disney, it is decorated and in theme. We always end up at Downtown Disney at some point during our Disney visit, even when we are not planning to.
Lego Store – The kids can play with the legos in an area right outside the store. There is even a ramp for racing the lego cars they build. There’s also a small playground in this area and huge lego creations to look at. If you happen to be there on the day of the month they have free build, each of your kids will get to build a free mini creation to take home. My kids could literally spend hours here.
DJ Dance Party is from 6:30 – 9:30 on Friday and Saturday nightsnear Once Upon a Toy store. The DJ plays all family friendly music and leads the crowd in a dance to every single song. Every time we have been, it has been the same DJ; I don’t know his name but he is awesome.
Characters in Flight Hot Air Balloon – My kids like watching the hot air balloon go up and down while we are there. You can see it from anywhere in Downtown Disney.
Magic Tricks at the Magic Masters shop are ongoing. The people that work there are always demonstrating the magic tricks that they sell in the shop.
Dig for Bones at T-Rex Café gift shop in the Paleo Zone. This is a little area outside the café that you have to go through the gift shop to get to. You kids can play in here as long as they like. While there, you can walk through and see the dinosaurs, mammoths, and fish.
Take a boat ride over to Dixie Landings at the Port Orleans resort and back.
Splash in the water at the main fountain or the water spouts over by the scrapbooking store. My kids always love playing in water especially when it is hot and humid.
Ghirardelli Chocolate Store is always a fun place to score free samples of their delicious chocolate treats.
