My family does not return to a place already visited unless it is an absolutely magical place for us. Stowe Vermont, with its gorgeous scenery, definitely fits that description for us. Recently I decided that my parents and brother should come along for a multi-generational skiing and snowboarding adventure, Stowe-style. It was a huge success! We all had a blast in the slopes.
Three Generations Having Fun at Stowe Mountain Resort
If you have been following my family’s adventures through the United States, Europe and Central America, you probably already know that returning to a place several times is extremely rare in our itinerary. I prefer taking the time we have to travel to explore new places.
There are too many places around the world that are waiting to be explored to be stuck in just a few. So when I return to a place more than two times, you can be sure that it is magical.
In fact I’d go as far as to say that for my family Stowe, Vermont, isn’t just a magical place, but also one of the most special places in the country.
I have been there four times now, twice in about one year. For my family’s recent trip (December 2016) I decided that it would be a fun thing to make it a multi-generational travel pact by including by brother and my parents.
I expected a snow experience that everyone would enjoy, but in the end we got a lot more than that!
Grandma and grandsons Ski Vermont Destinations
I was introduced to skiing a little over 35 years ago by my mom. She loved it so I grew up skiing throughout the North East region of the US and part of Canada. We went on a skiing adventure at least once per year.
But my brother and I grew up and ended up leaving my parents’ home. This meant that our yearly skiing adventures dwindled down to almost none in the past 20 years – much to my mom’s dismay.
Last year – finally! – her grandsons were old enough to hit the slopes with her. And I couldn’t think of a better place for this special moment than Stowe Mountain Resort.
Skiing and Snowboarding at Stowe Mountain Resort – A Must Do (even if you are not staying at the resort)
Stowe reminds me of one of those photos of a small snow village in Switzerland. The place is quaint, snowy, complete with gondolas and winter fun.
My husband is into extreme sports; he wants to try it all and makes a real effort to be great at it. So I thought skiing and snowboarding would be sports that he would catch on to really fast. Having him on the slopes of Stowe with me is something I have wanted to make happen for a while now.
Being Guatemalan, he doesn’t get to enjoy this weather nor the extreme sport side of it often, but no matter. Snowboarding and my husband have become fast friends.
About Stowe Mountain Resort
As soon as my family and I put on our gear and hit the slopes at Stowe Mountain Resort, I was able to see that they have some of the most modern, state-of-the-art ski lifts and ski lift technology of all the neighboring slopes.

The Gondola has got to be the best ride up and down the slope. I loved being able to go up one of their highest runs while still staying warm the whole way up. This is something that I bet all skiers and snowboarders really enjoy.
The best part about this gondola is that you don’t need to be a skier or snowboarder to be able to enjoy it. If you purchase your ticket you can go all the way up and enjoy some of the best views of the area.
As if that wasn’t enough, once you get to the top, you will notice that there is a restaurant offering absolutely delicious food.
I definitely think that this is one of the “must dos” while visiting Stowe! It is a beautiful place where three generations of my family were able to have tons of fun.
