Hoping to wiggle in a little “me time” into your next family vacation? When you travel as a family, getting that relaxing time alone can sometimes be difficult. However, it’s not impossible. On her latest trip to the Palm Beaches, Retro TravelingMom stayed at the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa. Here she found a self-indulgent destination that also made for a wonderful family vacation. Ready to see the details of this family friendly, luxurious, and a bit retro quirky resort? We’ve got the inside experience you’re wanting to know before you go.
The Palm Beaches with Kids
The Palm Beaches make for a spectacular family vacation destination because they offer a wide variety of activities for all ages. In fact, the Palm Beaches are made up of 47 miles of Atlantic coastline, including 29 beach parks, and 15 unique districts to explore.
Included within these unique districts we found exquisite shopping opportunities, fresh dining options, family friendly activities, and a luxury resort and spa that made our entire trip feel a little bit more special.
The Eau (pronounced “o”) Palm Beach Resort and Spa is located on 7 acres of private ocean front property within the Palm Beaches. This Forbes Five-star resort prides itself on offering that “wow” factor – something on which we’d have to agree. During our stay at the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa, I found myself saying “wow” a lot – here are seven of the unique causes.
7 Unexpected Luxuries of Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa
1 . The Rooms
The guestrooms, designed by Jonathan Adler, leave no detail undefined. In fact, the longer I stayed in the room the more interesting features I discovered. Small touches here and there that made this resort stand out from the rest.
Unexpected luxuries such as brightly colored wallpapers, fun and quirky artwork on the walls, and a retro egg chair overlooking the ocean from my private balcony. As you might be able to see why, this is where my tween loved to sit and swing.
2. The Food
Temple Orange Mediterranean Bistro
Having four on-site restaurant locations to choose from, Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa kept us satisfied all day long. For breakfast, we always enjoyed the tastes of the Temple Orange Mediterranean Bistro which offered a beautiful buffet spread. This buffet changed slightly every day but usually included things like yogurt served in a martini glass, waffles, cereals, and even a few dessert pastries.
Most noteworthy, each morning to my daughter’s delight, she was served a large mug of creamy hot chocolate to accompany her breakfast – mimicking her mom with her coffee. This little luxury is still one of the things she remembers the most.
Breeze Ocean Kitchen
Lunch served poolside at the Breeze Ocean Kitchen was always a treat! This fresh and colorful seaside escape was one of our favorites because it included a view of the water as we dined, plus some pretty amazing food options.
Kids menu? They’ve got it with several fresh options like chicken tenders, grilled cheese, grilled chicken and more.
For the parents, Breeze Ocean Kitchen has a margarita cart where your custom libation will be made tableside! They use only the freshest ingredients and spirits.
The resort also included Angle, which was closed during our stay for renovations and Stir Bar and Terrace which we used regularly for late-night snacks.
3. The Spa
When was the last time you took time for yourself on a family vacation? I know, at least for me, that doesn’t usually happen. At the Eau Palm Beach Spa, guests are instructed to make a self-centered wish and place their candle into the well before entering the facility. Doesn’t that just put you in the mood to be spoiled?

What follows next is nothing short of brilliance – cupcakes, champagne, massages, facials, and swinging chairs atop a shallow pool for dipping your toes in.
Don’t want to be away from your family all day? Remember that on the day of your spa treatment you get a day pass – meaning you can come and go all day. Therefore, you could come back to enjoy the dry sauna, hot tub, or relax in the self-centered garden again after enjoying a nice meal with your kids.
4. The Kids Club
Wondering how you’ll escape to the spa with your kids in tow? The Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa has a kids club called AquaNuts that offers childcare services in the form of a camp setting. These services can be secured for the full day, half day, or by the hour for ages 5-12.
However, since my tween happens to be more sensitive to these situations, we brought grandma along with us to keep her company while I spent some time at the spa. This only goes to show that the Eau Palm Beach is great for every age. Most days we could barely pull grandma away from the adult tranquility pool where she often lounged with a book by her side.
5. The Pools
The pools at the Eau Palm Beach are a destination on their own. With two separate pool locations to choose from, adults can either choose to spend quiet time relaxing at the tranquility pool or splashing around with their families at the active resort pool.
Both of these pools offer a view of the ocean and the smell of the fresh, salt-filled air as you swim.
6. The Service
I believe what separates the good hotels from the great is the people. During our experience, the staff went above and beyond.
One especially relevant example was when my daughter needed minor medical attention during our stay. The staff quickly rose to the occasion and got us the help we needed swiftly. Their genuine care for my daughter left a lasting impression on me. Several staff members even stopped to see how she was doing after the event had passed.
7. The Extras Keep Coming
From the very first moment guests walk into the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa they are greeted with unsuspected luxuries. A glass of champagne upon check-in, a beach tote, and slippers on your bed – all of the little extras that make a stay at this resort memorable.
One final memory making activity available at the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa is the set of bikes available by the front entrance. These are free to use for resort guests on a first come basis.
