After over ten years of worrying about diapers and stuff for small kids, I am finally free! My boys are finally old enough to carry their own stuff and I am able to move on to a cute and stylish weekend bag that I enjoyed carrying. Searching for the right one was such a fun – an exciting process that lead me to Canopy Verde and the bag that I ended up getting. I am so happy with my new bag.
Something that has been in my wish list for a long time is a stylish weekend bag.
I know that it might sound silly for some of you but every mom out there must understand that getting one isn’t quite possible until you are done with diapers and bottles. So I put off buying it for over a decade I felt like it was more of a luxury than a necessity.
Now that my two boys are old enough and I don’t need to be carrying around all sorts of kiddy stuff, I felt like it was time to have some serious fun looking for one. I live in Guatemala so my search was limited to strictly online. But that didn’t narrow down the options too much.
How to Find a Weekend Bag for Women
I knew that if I typed in ‘Weekend Bags for Women’ I would get thousands upon thousands of results. So I wanted to come up with a strategy to do the search.
The criteria I wanted to follow were:
1. Eco Friendly
2. Doctor-styled bag
3. Vegan bag
5. Female owned business (preferably a mompreneur)
This narrowed down my possibilities to a doable amount. In the end, I had only a handful of vendors that provided bags with all of the things that I wanted. One of them is called Canopy Verde.
This is a small mom-based business owned by Linda Wong. I contacted her and we connected instantly! Her styles are different than what I’ve seen with the other e-stores. She was the one that recommended to me the bag I ended up with. It is the Cassia Weekender Bag.
Putting my Weekend Bag to the Test
My husband and I have a tradition where we go on two major getaways every year. This is possible whenever we stay with my parents in the U.S. because we can leave the kids with them.
The destination of choice for this year was Philadelphia.
So I prepared my bag for our getaway and I sort of felt like it was Mary Poppins’ bag. I must admit that I don’t have experience with doctor-styled bags so I don’t know how much they can normally hold, but this one felt like I could pack way more than needed.
I had enough space for going out outfits, workout clothes, travel stuff, toiletries, chargers, and electronics. But the best part is that it was so comfortable to carry around that I didn’t feel like it as too heavy even after putting in everything for our three day trip.
Perfect Carry-On Size, As Well
All I wanted was a fun carry-on. So I ignored all the typical ones with wheels. Instead I wanted like an oversized handbag that could fit my stuff perfectly. This one passed the test perfectly.
This is now my absolute favorite bag. And so worth the wait!
Now I take it even on day trips. You can see me around the house looking for stuff to put on it to justify taking it with us.
You can also find a ton more designs on her Etsy Shop site as well.
