Packing your toiletries and makeup carry-on can be a real pain when you are trying to abide by TSA regulations, but having your makeup at the ready is a necessity for a lot of traveling women. Prepare yourself now by packing a kit with your must-have makeup essentials for traveling!
Like many frequent travelers, I both love and hate my carry on bag. Of course, I don’t want to wait for a check-in when I am on a quick trip. But it also means I have to think about what liquids I can pack – specifically in the makeup department. A weekend without dry shampoo can be too much for one girl to handle!
So, I’ve learned to play the game and always keep a few items in stock. Do yourself a favor and create a traveling kit of your own – and don’t use the products unless you are away from home. Instead, I have doubles of everything: one for everyday and one stored in a separate travel bag.
Here are my 6 must-have makeup essentials for when you are on the go.
You want to make sure your makeup stays put? You need to start with primer! And I am telling you to use Smashbox Primer. Trust me, a 6-hour flight is no challenge for my cover up when I have primer on as a base.
(Oh and PS if you are over 35… you should be using this product on a regular basis anyway.)
2. Rollerball Perfume
Two ounces is enough to keep you smelling fresh and fragrant. There are DOZENS of scents to choose from. I suggest selecting a signature scent and buying a size that is within TSA regulations. I hate going away and being without perfume. I feel like my outfit is complete (in a non-Tom Cruise kind of way) once I spray my scent on.
3. Travel Brush Kit
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself in a hotel room using my fingers to apply foundation! UGH. I hate when I forget to bring along my brushes. Grab yourself a to-go brush kit to prevent getting placed in the same situation.
4. Facial Cleansing Cloths
These clothes remove your makeup – even your mascara – without having to use extra liquid or creams. You don’t have to worry about bringing along soap or eye makeup remover.
PLEASE NOTE that I don’t suggest that you wash your makeup off every day with these wipes; this is just for quick getaways. If you are packing an actual luggage, then please bring your full routine with you. I bring wipes when I am going away for one or two nights. Otherwise, my facial soap gets packed.
5. Powder Foundation
If you don’t have excessive acne and can get away with powder coverage, leave the liquid foundation at home. Pressed powder gives you great coverage and travels nicely.
I suggest you get this exact kit from DryBar because the products are travel sized – and actually great to use! Do yourself a favor and get acquainted with this suggestion because it will change your life. Yes, I sad it. Yes, I’m a little dramatic.
What do you think? Are any of these makeup essentials for traveling in your carry on already? Do you use dry shampoo when you travel? How about roll on perfume? Would love to hear your tips as well!
