Where is North Dakota on a Map?What is there to DO in North Dakota?!

Are you even sure where it is on the map?

North Dakota is the third least populated state. And it’s located (surprise!) north of… SOUTH Dakota, somewhere in the middle of the US, along the Canadian border.

Don’t let the population numbers slow you down.

Consider traveling to the Williston, ND area (located in the north western part of the state) here are several local suggestions perfect for a family travel adventure!

  • North Dakota buford state historic site travelingmomAbout 25 miles southwest of Williston is the Fort Buford State Historic Park
Fort Buford was a vital military post. And is most well known for being the site where Sitting Bull surrendered.
  • An absolute favorite among the younger set is the New Park: Brigham Playground
Located inside Davidson Park in the center of Williston. It is set up mirroring the importance of agriculture and energy to the town! And the splash pad is great in summer.
  • Another local historical and natural museum sits on the Confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers

  • Golfing at The Links of North Dakota
No water in these links, but sand bunkers and wind will test your skill! About 28 miles outside of Williston, ND.
