We recently stayed at the brand-new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel during the grand opening media event. We had the opportunity to tour the hotel and stay overnight. It was a fantastically fun stay and I am sharing everything you need to know about the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel.
LEGOLAND California Hotel Benefits
The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is the second official LEGOLAND California hotel in Carlsbad. Both official LEGOLAND California hotels offer extreme LEGO theming and fun, along with some exclusive benefits for guests. Whether you are spending one day or several days at LEGOLAND California, check out why you might want to splurge and stay overnight at one of the LEGOLAND California hotels.

LEGOLAND Castle Hotel
The LEGO Royal fun begins as soon as you arrive at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. A LEGO Queen and Wizard with magic chandelier greet guests as they arrive in Grand Hall at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. Kids can explore a secret dungeon, build LEGO bricks and slide down into the lobby as their parents check in. You will also find a LEGO throne, a knock-knock joke door, and costume character meet-and-greet encounters. The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is full of LEGO fun throughout the hotel, inside and out.
LEGOLAND Castle Hotel Rooms
There are 230 premium themed LEGO Castle Hotel rooms and 20 themed suites. Each room includes a king bed and bunk bed with trundle and can accommodate 5 people. The kids’ area features their own TV and LEGO bricks to play with. I appreciate the stepstool and training toilet seat in each bathroom. The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is truly designed with families in mind.
Suites offer a similar layout in addition to a lounge area with a sofa bed. The suites can accommodate 7 people. Every room also offers a LEGO scavenger hunt each night complete with a fun LEGO prize.
There are three different room themes at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel rooms. Magic Wizard rooms are full of curious potions, spell books, wands, and magic mirrors. The king bed features an illuminated headboard of potions and spells with a LEGO owl model guarding over it.
The Knights and Dragons rooms feature a stained glass style headboard of a knight fighting a fire-breathing dragon. The Royal Princess features a beautiful purple and green canopy style headboard that twinkles in the dark.
The hotel offers many standard features you’d expect. These include a gift shop, daily maid service, and a guest laundry room.
LEGOLAND Castle Hotel Dining
The Dragon’s Den Restaurant & Bar is a full-service restaurant open to the public. It’s a great way to experience the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel without staying as a guest. The restaurant is full of LEGO models and lots of entertainment options. Our favorites include a self-playing piano and “audible” chairs. During dinner, you’ll find entertainers telling interactive stories.
While it wasn’t open during our stay, the Castle Pool Bar & Grille will serve smoothies, sandwiches and salads prepared fresh to order.
LEGOLAND Castle Pool
The LEGOLAND Castle Pool is a zero entry pool featuring interactive water play features. Cabanas are available to rent and lifeguards are on duty.
LEGOLAND Castle Entertainment
Beyond the entertainment at the Dragon’s Den Restaraunt, you will find plenty of other fun activities in the Royal Courtyard at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. Little kids will enjoy the LEGO DUPLO play area. And older kids have a large play yard to explore as well. My boys could have played out there all evening long.
The Royal Courtyard offers its own live entertainment schedule in the evening, including plays, games, and dancing at the Castle Courtyard Stage. A large outdoor screen shows LEGO movies next to the pool all day long.
The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is a little pricey. But I think it’s worth a splurge for at least one night to experience the extreme LEGO fun. If you are headed to the East Coast, consider staying at the unique LEGOLAND Beach Retreat in Florida.
