Until recently finding a family hotel in Bronx, NY wasn’t easy. Whether taking in the Yankees, strolling down the streets of Arthur Avenue (“the real Little Italy of New York”), or are simply searching for a family friendly hotel close to Manhattan, options were limited. Read on to find out why the Residence Inn New York The Bronx may be the perfect fit for your family.

Of all the New York City boroughs, the Bronx was the only one I had never visited until this summer. As I searched for family-friendly hotels in New York City, the Residence Inn New York The Bronx kept popping up with stellar reviews. Upon visiting, I quickly found out why. The staff of this newly constructed hotel have rolled out the welcome mat to ensure that families visiting the hotel experience the best of the neighborhood that they grew up in.

Residence Inn New York The Bronx

Finding a hotel in New York City with enough space for an entire family can be tough. Throw in additional costs like parking and wifi and suddenly the nightly expenditures can really add up. Staying at the Residence Inn New York the Bronx solves a lot of the cost and space issues that families face. The hotel located in the Bronx at the Metro Center Atrium is only 3 miles from great family activities like the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden, and just over 10 miles from Central Park.

The nightly rates at the hotel are extremely reasonable. Families can choose from Studio Rooms, One Bedroom Suites and 2 Bedrooms Suites with 2 bathrooms.  The hotel also has a number of public spaces for lounging that will give traveling families additional space. There is a free breakfast buffet to boot.

What Works for Families

Location. The Residence Inn New York the Bronx is in a family-friendly neighborhood with quick access to Bronx attractions like Bronx Museum of the Arts, City Island, and Yankee Stadium. The area surrounding the hotel has plenty of restaurants and a grocery store to pick up food to prepare in the full kitchen in your hotel room. We filled our fridge with Italian delicacies from Arthur Avenue and ate like kings during our stay. The hotel is 0.7 miles away from the closest Subway station. We decided to park our car for free at the hotel and used public transportation throughout our stay.

Big Rooms. The kids and I stayed in a one bedroom suite which had plenty of room for a family of four. The suite featured a large fully equipped kitchen, a king size bed and pull out couch and sizeable bathroom. We had plenty of room to spread out and a great view of a local ballfield where teams played baseball each night.

Free good wifi. I find sometimes free wifi doesn’t necessarily mean good wifi. At the Residence Inn New York The Bronx, you will find both. I was able to get plenty of work done while the kids were able to stream You Tube videos and television shows with ease.

Free Parking. The hotel has a large parking lot steps from the door of the hotel and parking is free. A rarity in any of the New York City boroughs.

Friendly staff. From the moment you book a stay at the Residence Inn New York The Bronx, you realize that the staff is beyond compare. A friendly email arrives thanking you for your booking and giving you additional information on the hotel. Once at the hotel, the managers onsite are constantly checking in ensuring your stay goes smoothly, giving dining recommendations. and taking a special moment to check in with the kids.

Free Breakfast. Every morning guests gather in the lounge area to enjoy a complimentary breakfast of waffles, eggs and a selection of fresh fruit. The breakfast buffet has ample options.

Peace and quiet. The hotel provides a quiet space in the city that doesn’t sleep. We loved returning to the Bronx and having a peaceful and quiet rest. We were not able to hear the people in the rooms next to us or above us.

What Doesn’t Work for Families

No Pool. Like most New York City hotels, there is no pool.

The Room

The room was exceptionally clean and welcoming. The kids loved the addition of Jonas, a small stuffed giraffe who awaited us. The hotel encourages families to take Jonas on adventures throughout their stay and share photos of his to win a free one night stay.

There was not only the sleeping space but a sizeable living room with television and plenty of space to relax.

Staying in a room this size would be perfect for an extended stay.
