Whether you live in Arizona or traveling there for vacation, Flagstaff is a fun winter getaway. Multidimensional TravelingMom, Kristi Mehes, recently traveled with her family to Flagstaff to experience the North Pole Experience — and discovered the DoubleTree by Hilton, one of Arizona’s family friendly hotels in Flagstaff.
There are several reasons that the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is one of our favorite family friendly hotels in Flagstaff, beginning with the infamous warm chocolate chip cookies. From an inviting atmosphere, accommodations, amenities, and location, read on for reasons why you and your family should book the DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff.

THE INFAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
There’s a reason this is listed as my first category. I’m going to admit it – the chocolate chip cookie is one of the main reasons I wanted to stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff. That melt-in-your-mouth cookie is also one of the reasons it’s one of my top family friendly hotels in Flagstaff.
Not familiar with the DoubleTree brand of hotels? Most DoubleTrees serve warm chocolate chip cookies to guests upon check in. And the cookies are delicious, and my cookie monster son also was extremely excited when they handed us cookies.
We visited in the winter, when there was still snow on the ground, and the lobby was very welcoming. Holiday decorations are on display, complete with reindeers and a Christmas tree. My son loves Christmas time, and he enjoyed looking at the lights and the decorations.
There’s even a fireplace to warm up guests.
Family Friendly Accommodations at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff has recently been renovated and it’s very evident. Our room was located on the third floor, close to the elevators and the sky bridge (more about the sky bridge below). With two queen beds, a desk, and two chairs, there was plenty of space for the three of us. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are extremely clean. Free WiFi is also included in the stay, which is something we always appreciate, especially now that my son has a tablet to watch movies.
Location is Important at Family-Friendly Hotels in Flagstaff
The hotel is located off historic Route 66, and near the Northern Arizona University Campus. It’s about a ten minute drive to the the North Pole Experience. Not only are there several restaurants nearby, but there are also stores like Barnes & Noble close by as well. However, the hotel itself is in a relatively quiet location.
It’s also a great launching pad to visit other cities like Williams and Arizona’s famous national park, the Grand Canyon. It’s also about 45 minutes away from Sedona, where you can see beautiful sights like Bell Rock, Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Cathedral Rock.
Stay on Budget with In-Room Refrigerator and Coffee Maker
Hotel rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff have a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker. We always pack water, sodas and snacks when we travel, so I’m always happy when a hotel room has a mini fridge. My husband is the coffee drinker in our family, so he’s always happy when our room has a coffee maker. Both a mini refrigerator and coffee maker come in handy, especially since it’s a great way to save money on food expenses.
Park for Free!
Some hotels charge for parking, but the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff does not charge a fee for parking. During our stay, there were plenty of available parking stalls, and we parked near our room. One of my pet peeves is when it’s a long walk from the car to the hotel room, especially when hauling luggage. That isn’t the case at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff.
My son really liked the sky bridge. The sky bridge connects one tower of the hotel to another tower.
Last but not least, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff has a heated pool. It’s pretty cold outside in December, so we opted to play in the snow instead of swimming in the pool. However, it’s a great option to have, especially when visiting in the summer.
