Have you ever bought one of the organic or gluten free products made by Bob’s Red Mill? Chances are you have, since their products are carried all over the world. All of their products are made right here in Oregon not far from Portland.
Free Mill Tour
Monday through Friday at 10 AM they offer free tours at their mill. The mill is located at a separate facility not far from their visitor’s center at 13521 S.E. Pheasant Court, Milwaukie, OR 97222.
There you will learn the rich history of Bob and his interesting business model, his mill, and how the products are made. You will also see antique milling equipment, French Buhr millstones, and more. It’s a wonderful educational opportunity and I highly recommend taking your kids. Each of my kids learned something when we went, even my five year old. At the end of the tour they give you some samples to take home and tokens to the kids good for free cookies at the Visitor’s Center.
Once you’ve toured the mill you should go check out their visitors center at
5000 S.E. International Way, Milwaukie, OR 97222.
It’s just a few minutes from the mill. There they have on old fashioned water wheel in front of their beautiful building. It’s a great place to get a photo. Inside you will be able to purchase all of the products they make, including some in bulk at discounted prices. The main attraction here is their café. The food they serve is organic, wholesome, and delicious. It’s also inexpensive, the kids meals were only $2.50 and they got a huge meal.
