In 2013, Grand Central Terminal (GCT) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. This March, GCT hosts many free special events.
Murray’s Cheese has been in Grand Central Terminal for 10 years. To celebrate, it has free daily tastings, 3-7pm in Grand Central Market.
March 1-9 sample cheese and meat, including artisanal American salamis.
March 10-16 sample cheese and booze, including whisky, beer and “boozy cheeses” for St. Patrick’s Day.
March 17-23 sample Murray’s new prepared foods and Italian items.
March 24-31 sample Easter & Passover foods. The focus is on cheese that people normally “pass over” and snacks such as honey and Parmigiano.
Scratch and win sweepstakes cards will be distributed throughout the month at the Terminal.
The free multimedia exhibition, Grand By Design: A Centennial Celebration of Grand Central Terminal continues through March 15, 2013 in Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall.
Opening March 6 and running through July 7, 2013 there is an exhibit: On Time/Grand Central. Curated by MTA Arts for Transit, this exhibition focuses on the passage of time during Grand Central’s first 100 years.
On March 19, there is a kick off Gala to Japan Week with Grand Central Terminal’s sister station, Tokyo Station
March 25-31, 2013, see a performance piece by Nick Cave: Heard-NY in Vanderbilt Hall. Thirty colorful “horses” take up residence in Grand Central Terminal and periodically break into movement.
